Sorry to be the spoiler, this didn't work for me. In fact the original didn't work anymore after I restored it. I had to reinstall everything
Can someone explain to a c/i (computer illiterate) how you "back up your launch exe. and replace it with the unzipped one"? do i have to keep uninstalling and re installing rfactor every time a change is made or a new version comes out? i guess i know when a new version is out when it just stops working and i have to spend hours on a forum trying to figure it out. About ready to write off $85. + cut my loss and go back to gpl. thanks if any one wants to help.
added the fix but when I click on Developer gives me black screen and back to the desktop after a few seconds
Go to your Launcher directory, rename our Launcher executable and drop the new one in that same directory.
it did not work for me... this is getting very frustrating when i double click on the 'launch rfactor' in the Launcher directory, the 'launch rfactor (32bit)' comes up in task manager for a fraction of a second and disappears again. does it have something to do with the 32bit?
i uninstalled build 798 and installed build 382. when i double clicked the rfactor 2 icon to run the programme, i got a RUNTIME ERROR from the MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY...saying - 'Program: C:\Program Files\rfactor2\Launch rfactor.exe...This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.', what this means is that: 1. whatever build 798 has affected or changed remains in the system, even if b798 has been uninstalled and 2. the error is related to the C++ Runtime...
Came here to report the issue, seems I am a bit late lol. Delighted to say that the new launcher fixed moddev, many thanks Jeremy
New Launcher also fixed my problem. now where do i find, which .exe am i launching.. 32 or 64.? and is rF2 still using DX9.?
RF2 launches automatically in 64bits (if you have a 64bits windows version) unless you ask him to launch in 32 bits through the launcher (advanced settings). RF2 only uses DX9.
Finally got around to installing 798, had this issue. Proceeded to make it worse by extracting an old launcher from 2013 into my install (in my defense it was dated 7-23!). Figured someone else might do the same so I might as well post. If you are asked to extract a launcher that is smaller in size, you are making the same mistake I made. When you fire up rf with the 2013 patch launcher you will also be notified about missing QT4. Download and extract the correct one.
