I have noticed that the server memory usage grows when hosting(One Dedicated Server 64bit), from 5xx MB > 4 days = 22XX MB and it is still growing. Is this Build 770 64bit issue or something else like OS etc. ?
BTW I have two server online issue is same to both of them, 128gb and 64gb memory, it is np to my severer`s but it can be to others.
Posted this in the Build 770 news thread and Ari was so nice to point me here. Think problem my friend is having relates to memory usage.
We are running 770 for our league and I just checked in on our server and after 15 hours of up time we are only using 500MB. We stayed with the 32bit build so we didn't have to worry about plugins right away. We are using a custom timing plugin that I wrote and I haven't had a chance to port it to x64 yet. Really though, on the server I see no point in running the x64 build. We do endurance races and even after our 24 hour race on build 660 our memory usage was right at 1GB (with replays enabled). So we are no where near the 32bit limit. Why introduce something new if the old wasn't broken? The plugins we are running are LiveRacers, a custom timing plugin I wrote and the weather plugin. We are still using LR v1.3.1.0 which could be why we aren't having problems. The new version may have introduced a new leak. People that are experiencing a leak should remove all plugins and see if they still have a leak. If so, try the x86 build (still with no plugins) to see if you still have a leak.
Friend just confirmed the growing memory usage: 20mb in 5 minutes. Guess this causes the crashing. Will lead him to your post Noel, thanks
I can confirm it as well. Our server starts with 170 MB and after one day it is using over 700 MB. We need to restart the servers every three or 4 days to avoid memory problems
Without liveracers plugin in our servers the memory usage is still going up. I don't think liveracers is at fault but it does increase the rate the memory is being used up.
Yes I think you are right and switch back to 32bit and as I wrote in news topic there is no point to use 64bit at the moment: "I have done some "under cover testing, no info to anybody" with -Fun2Race.net- dedicated servers, four as 32bit and four as 64bit. 32 and 64bit dedicated servers are working fine with Get Missing Component and members has joined all dedicated servers with both the 32 and 64bit client."
I'm just trying to isolate the source of the leak. Is it a plugin, or is is simply the x64 build? Has anyone been able to duplicate this leak with a 32bit server?
My 32-bit 770 server has been up for 3 days and is showing 1.6 GB in use. Replays are off and Replay recording to memory = false The only plugin is the current version of LiveRacers.
I'm at 20 hours of uptime and now I am at 675MB. So 500MB at 15 hours and 675MB at 20 hours. But even on 660 I saw the usage go up and down a few 100MB at times. I am going to keep reporting back on my usage as days pass.
Noel leak is only with 64bit in my server, and as I wrote I also host 4 dedicated 32bit and memory usage, 1 dedicated is 600-800MB after 5 days 24/7, live plugin, welcome plugin and replays is on. 1 Dedicated 64bit is using 2500-2700MB 5days 24/7, no plugins and replays is off. It looks like 64bit memory is growing about 250-300MB one day, I find this strange because 32bit memory usage looks normal to me. I am going to let dedicated 64bit all 4 of them stay online and we look how high it goes, server has 128GB memory, I think we can test few more days before all memory is used up
I'm on 32bit server Noel My main server has been up for 3hours 32mins = 652,124K No third party plugins or liveracers
Great! Thanks for the input. It will be interesting to see how the other two servers do on 64bit. That would prove that it has nothing to do with content.
This is probably an "ordinary" memory leak, but just in case: Is it somehow possible to disable the built-in HTTP server just to see if it makes any difference? Just curious if someone (not rFactor2) attempts to probe it. You would be amazed how quickly port scanning attempts find services like a HTTP server, even when running on nonstandard ports, and try to figure out what operations it supports...
I have one more 4 CPU 64GB server, I put it online with Dedicated 64bit and find out if it is server memory leak for some reason or if it`s the content.
