So, PLR and Controller.ini are now JSON, my question is, that HDV file, engine.ini, tires.ini, and so on, will be JSON?

    Thanks.

From what I am told, yes, though I don't know when. Quite nice for you, as you can parse them easily. :)

Yeah, thats nice!, for me that will make my work on CarsStats much easier, I have to do an automatic system, adding mods/cars will be really easy then (copy&paste mod files, thats it), but I have to do that automatic system lol, waiting for new mods with JSON files :)

Nooooo !!!!! What a bad news, is an automatic converter will be available? Because I don't mind to convert old format to new format with my hands !!!!
For me it's a bad idea, convert all the veh, sfx ... too?
What about the rF1 tools that work well on rF2 files, like EngineEditor & co ???? We will start from zero !!! We already loose time with the new rF2 structure, and now this new change, you will kill the modders motivation with these kind of choices !!!

    I dont think the same.

Yes some thing have to be remade, but now we have a better and solid starting point.

Im motivated to see the new things released, and like me I thing more people will be, forget the past and rF1 tools, they are for rF1, we need new tools for rF2, made specifically for rFactor2.

My question is why now and not at Build 49?

Seems to me the community is easily capable of making converters where there is demand for it.

There's a billion converting and reformatting tools out there already for JSON from what I've seen.

You know it's still, essentially, a text file. Right? You just enter the numbers on the right line the same as before.

Give the tools to convert current format to JSON format and I will stop to worry about this change ;). Today I prefer pass my time to understand the new feature of rF2 in term of physics/GFX than take each file and transpose the values in another file format or develop a tool for that ;).

rf2 will auto transfer the plr file where it can. You can otherwise open with notepad. That's all there is right now... lol Just open them with notepad, it's nothing huge at this point.

Also worth pointing out engine and suspension files have moved on a fair bit since rF1. The various tools really either need replacing or updating, and if/when that happens they can support JSON as well.

    Bad for me :)
JSON is more versatile, but yes, the only good news is that old mods will not need for an update.
