2 Things on this, 1 my update tab is grayed out so i cant get the 770 update. my online sub has expired so is that the reason? 2 I tried to download from the downloads section and chrome says it has malware on it and wont release it. i trust ISI site but you never know if it has been hacked.
I don't agree with your link. CHROME does not do a bad job of protecting you, isn't it better err on the side of caution even if it is a false positive. ? It can only do a "Bad" job if it actually infects you. ? Besides, that is the first warning I have ever had from Chrome since Build45.
Are you suggesting that a good job of moderating this forum would be to ban everyone who ever gets a post report? It might not be that they've actually done anything, but it would be safe to er on the side of caution and ban everyone that annoys someone, however slight, to ultimately prevent any potential arguments.
Seems you been doing that lately anyways Tim ? I see 2 threads closed this morning, nothing to do with me ? IMHO Chrome does not do a bad job of trying to protect you. It does a Good Job. If you want to ban me for not agreeing that is up to you.
The weblink says "The only solution at the moment is to download files which give this warning using another browser" There is an other way to download with Chrome and that is to unclick "Enable phishing and malware protection". The option can be found in 'Settings', then 'Show advanced settings'.
Go tell someone who cares melg. True DJ I never had that warning in rF2 ever before downloading Lite builds with Chrome. I use a Standalone Chrome folder ( bet you never heard of that before ! lol ) ........... it can't be updated, it is impossible by definition, maybe that helps.
The big issue with the messages in the latest google chrome update is that they say, incorrectly, that the downloaded file IS malicious as oppose to POTENTIALLY malicious. Chrome does this merely on the basis of which domain the file was downloaded from. Chrome does not do any scanning of the file after downloading it. Phrases like, "This file will harm your computer" and "Hurt me plenty" are inaccurate and can be damaging to a company's reputation. ISI purchases code signing certificates so that Microsoft can authenticate our installers. But Google is mucking up this authentication process by displaying these false messages and hiding the downloaded file.
You can also go to Chrome's downloads list and click "Recover malicious file". This way you don't have to turn off security settings at a global scale.
Does Tim say AC does a bad job of anything ? That is the only point I was making It is not good for google It does NOT do a BAD job. For one show me how I can run a standalone folder ( as I show above pic ) of the other browsers that will run on any PC 101% Good Luck with that ...................
Chrome IT IS doing a very bad job indeed. Got 4 false (I'd say FAKE as there is NO any scanning behind the report) malicious blocking last month for a FTP server, Plex Media server, rF2 and a math application. I'm amazed at the way they take good care of my system, well yeah... a bit less for my privacy but hey!...don't ask too much.
Happened to me 2 times both downloading a LITE build. Apart from that I have never ever seen it ...... any domain or site. So I guess it depends where you browse. It is like calling Nvidia very bad because your video card and setup crashes or does not work as well in a particular game. lol Another thing may help some sites is to right click the file and save as rather then just clicking P.S. I have 200 bookmarks , rF2 is the only site I ever got this warning and ONLY TWICE in 2.5 years. That tells me it must be more to do with the actual sites..............
Good evening, thanks for the new build 770... I also have two questions: First: in the saved replay I do not see my own skin. It appears the original skin. Second: Is there no more PLR file? (rFactor2 / UserData / player / ?.) I can not find it anymore. Thank you for any helping answer. Andy
We moved to JSON file format: http://rfactor.net/web/2014/06/27/consistent-file-format-json-in-upcoming-rf2-builds/
No, it's like nVidia not letting the game run because Microsoft Windows once had a complaint. That would be a bad job of running games, by nVidia. Need another example? Cops arresting everyone, but it's OK if they get a few of the bad guys in with the innocent ones. (this might help you understand my moderation comment above, and the irony within, which you chose to make a bad comment about)
