Hi all. Just want to know if someone can give some info about rain developpement. For my personal xperience, i see some minor changes on rainspray, reflections but some minor changes at each build (a way better FPS till last build and less spray i think ) But i presume that i'm not the only one who wait for the rain drops and all the effects that are supposed to be in rain conditions. Maybe some physical stuff need to be implemented in gmotor? What plans? Every info can be posted here, that would be better i think. Hey, this is one of the major improvements for what i'm waiting for, and i'm sure, i'm not alone Let's talk about it here now Bye and thanks in advance for your reply (Tim, you're really welcome to give some feedback lollll ) Cheers
As far as I know the weather is still WIP, also not all ISI cars has the rain textures and wiper animations completed and/or updated.
Yeah, it's in development i know, like rfactor 2 itself lol But, where are they in this process of development? Is it far of seing it in the next build? Who knows...
Wet weather has been held up at various stages and just been one of those features that continually suffered from how we were developing. Not an excuse, it was a poor way to develop, just saying how it has been. Though the more things we complete, the more things we have to fix when we change something connected to it. We were developing almost like the public didn't have the product. Often the guys would put in incomplete features that "worked" so you could get them sooner (which is a nice thought), but this left you with incomplete features and sometimes broke things entirely if that had issues not seen by our testers. The plan for the next few builds is to make some of the incomplete things into complete things (both that you have versions of, and that we've held back). It's likely they'll get to this stuff fairly soon now, but I can't say when, only that incomplete features are more of a priority for those devs assigned them. It's also made it very difficult to market the product. You can't push rF2 as a wet weather simulator really right now, and when we do fix it, it'll be 'woohoo, you FINALLY fixed it'. If we'd held it, and released it finished, working, as a feature, it would be a way more positive response to getting the same thing at the same time. Shame really.
Nice straight & honest answer tim, thanks a lot I don't use wet weather although I'm looking forward to it when it's more complete Looking forward to older tracks being updated (as you've mentioned) & next few builds
This is perhaps the Best answer I have seen so far in this forum ! Really straight and honest and I am really looking forward to seing the rain features being completed thx Tim
THanks Tim. This is a perfect and clear aswer. There where really no critics behind my post. I anderstand and respect the way developers work. But personnaly i think it's a good way to implement some "not finished" features in future builds. Maybe not for developers lol but for users it's great ! So excited to see some new stuff. We all are old child lol.
More seriously, continue the great work and things will happen when they need to. I personnaly do my best to show and talk about rfactor 2 to my friends. One sure thing is when they try it, they want it!
Great reply Tim...one of the best I've read here for this kind of arguments... I think the rain system it's one the aspect where the other stay behind and you should push the development in that direction... Anyway you are the developers and you know what is the best....
Wow that's really honest answer from Tim. To be honest, that's kinda how I imagined it. When rf2 gets fully working weather, I'll play it again.
Great post Tim, I look forward to seeing rF2 turn into the great Sim most of us know it will be. Even with the frustrations it has given me much fun and has been my go to sim since I bought into it
Great news. I am hoping that the new rain features are out by the time my league runs Silverstone at the end of June. Obviously, that's going to be a rain race we are running Spa in the rain today so it'll be cool to see the differences at the 2 races.
