    because??? (maybe your opinion?)

Maybe others want more performance than the 970 and don't have a problem with the performance/buck ratio?

Could this fix the "bright jaggies" on DX10/11 sims.

If he can afford a nice 4K monitor he can afford a water cooled GTX980 :)

It's all about the 980 Ti, (and probably 390X), truly next gen in terms of raw performance :) , 980 non-Ti is still a beast if you're not coming from a 780 Ti or Titan Black though.

I am probably going to sell my two 780 Tis for dual 980s if any used 980s pop up any where, that could take a while though.

I need more comparisons of single and dual 980 benchmarks compared to overclocked (1150+ MHz core) 780 Tis, rather than the stock clocked 780 Tis which most reviews use.

The 970 ftw gets 980 performance, so what could a water cooled 980 overclock too!

Lol. I do have a Titan Z, but just with 3GB of VRAM instead of 6GB - it's called dual 780 Tis :) . And for some reason it's not $3000, lol!

I look at it this way... keeping up to date with GFX cards always provides a better experience visually, however minimal. I drop about £150 a year on GFX cards (upgrade early and sell on while the older one is still worth something), or £3 a week, that's less than a pint of beer at the pub each week.... I don't go to the pub, so I have £3 a week spare to put towards my passion... which is sim-racing. If you are too poor to afford £3 a week or go to the pub and spend more than that on beer, then that's fair enough I guess... but if you do spend the £3 a week on other things, then you are A RICH PERSON I guess....lol .. (I work hard for my spare £3 a week and have to travel all over the world for my job, taking me away from my family and home, it's not all glamour, so I have the right to spend my spare £3 a week on what I like without being put in a class)

Anyway... the reason I see to upgrade now is to get better performance at the resolutions I play at. I top out on VRAM with 3GB occasionally so having the extra GB will be great. The 780ti performs perfect at 1080p, but I run 4K and 3K resolutions so the added performance at these resolutions will benefit me.... where the 780ti sometimes drops below 60fps at these resolutions due to being out of GPU computational power or lack of VRAM.

Ahhh i cant decide whether to get dual 980s or not, too similiar to 780 Ti performance. Plus, I don't know if the slower memory bus will negatively affect me at triple screen 5760x1080 res, even though it does have more RAM and slightly more raw outright power...

I'm almost certainly going to get 2 980 Tis, but I expect my 780 Tis to be much less valuable, by then compared to now, in terms of resale price. Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions.

I run about the same amount of pixels (3780x1620 = 6123600) as you do (5760x1080 = 6220800) in rFactor (although in single view not multiview and on 1 card vs 2)) so will report back in the coming fortnight about realtime performance increase (or not < hopefully not the case) in rF2... if you can keep your wallet closed until then. Looks like I'll get the card by the end of the month, but not sure about the waterblock... but will probably test it out and put up with warm legs for a short while until the waterblock comes.

Sweet! And are you also upgrading from a 780 Ti? If so, what was ypur 780 Ti clocked at (actual clocks while in-game)...

Hopefully the lower bus speed wouldn't be an issue, they have utilised some kind of data compression to compensate

Could do with defining a bench setup... car, track, size of field, position in field, in games settings etc so that I can run on the 780 and record the stats.... any preference..?

    How about:

    Nissan GTR
    Silverstone GT
    19 AI
    Grid pos 10
    2 laps
    AI control
In game Display settings on max (AA level 8), everything on.
    Nvidia control panel default
    Resolution 3780x1620 (for me)

    anything else I should set?

    U bastard :)

ya let let's do something like this. Off the top of my head, maybe make sure the weather is identical for all tests (all 5 weather icons exactly the same, same constant everything). Does anybody else have any recommendations with regards to graphic settings or other settings for the test?...
