No seriously, rF1 had canned environment ,rF2 has dynamic weather that changes with the environment or at least will ,don't be confused
Tosch has made HDR profiles for build 342 for example I tried Mills and Sebring with x10 time scale to simulate day and night transition and it works great. There are still issues with colour settings and some strange reflections and colours during the twilight but the lighting itself works now and racing @ night (with prober HDR Profiles and for night races maden tracks) is now possible. Not sure but I think the hdr issue with night racing is solved in build 342 but since there are many hdr profiles with (now) wrong or not more fitting settings are out there many belive it is still "buggy". Have you tried it as explained above or have I missed the point ?
Interesting post Duvel... I joined up on b85 and don`t remember (although my memory could be letting me down) rf2 being as dark back then. Your screen looks more like I`d imagine rf2 default settings should look although something (to me) doesn`t look right with those settings either... seems to be a bit washed out maybe? The sky looks to be a bit pale maybe...? I`ll try those HDR profiles though. It has been a problem for some time now and I agree, if the base (default) setup from ISI for both non HDR and HDR was correct, there would have been no need for my original post and (the way I see it) HDR profiles would then enahnce things, not be needed to make things look as they should. No, I don`t think you missed the point bravo but I have tried various HDR proflies as I`ve said. Some definitely help with the lighting but some don`t... I really think we need ISI to fix this "sunglasses" problem and give us a much more realistic base setup...
Perssonally I dont like HDR at all. It creates odd effects. But people saying it is too dark does not make any sense. The shot above looks fine though and bright and uses HDR ! I think people try to make them too moody and they just look worse in the end. Plus it works terrible with headlights
On a serious note though I agree that kosmo`s shot does look a lot better, I said that too, but rf2 is not right regarding lighting etc (imo) As it stands (default base setup) it`s too dark... This unedited shot (as I said) is on a calibrated monitor and is way too dark, again imo.
What do you mean with Default Base Setup? If you mean the default HDR profile (without load the dedicated one) then you're right, as the default HDR profile is using very conservatives values for the old light environment (high turbidity, high Auto White tolerance values and old histograms) and it needs to be changed asap.
Sun position is set by the geolocation of the track, and the time of year. The sun will be in the same location, at the same time, as real life on the day the track creator selected.
I think the older tracks still need their colors correcting now the bug which made the reddish colors is fixed, as well.
Yes, that`s what I mean Tuttle... should have just said that I suppose... Really chuffed to hear it will be worked on as it really does look pretty dark atm and some of the colours etc don`t really look right... Asap sounds really good too. I appreciate your input on the matter. This also sounds very good Mr Wheatley.
