Info: This new build should see a major step update to visuals in rFactor 2. You may want to take a good look at your settings, as in some cases you might be able to use a lower setting for the look you are used to now, while those of you with super-systems can enjoy visuals not seen before. We have worked a way around the bug with USB in Microsoft Windows 8. Loss of controllers issues should be gone. Let us know. Only major known issue is that for night time racing, you may need to disable HDR to give you visibility. We simply had to get the wheel fixes out (which stopped users from running the sim entirely due to the bug in Windows 8). What a brilliant timing to come online to bad I can't play now, and have to wait for tommorrow. Really excited about it though
Hey Tim, do you mind to explain in other words what this means? "Now allowing user vehicle data (like FFB multiplier) to be stored separately from mods. To enable, set the PLR file option "User Vehicle Data" to 1. The current default is 0, which is the original behavior."
We've taken certain things that don't need to be validated to prevent cheating (such as AI skins and talent, etc) out of the rfcmp files. So you can share carsets and set ffb for things without having to repackage a mod.
rF2 launcher 0.685 says build 300 is up to date. I have a second rF2 build 339 install. Something to do with that or is the auto update thingy not updated yet?
Jeremy is on his way home, he'll have auto update on ASAP. That's why I didn't post news on our social media or send to other news sites yet.
Hmm, lucky and good timing for me. I had just uninstalled and completely removed rFactor 2 from my system.
Quick tested on LRP with skip barber. Since yesterday (build 300) i manage to use max video settings ingame and, with the new build, cannot see any difference in fps. But, i don´t know if it is a placebo effect, i felt ffb even better in this build and found easier to drive the skip barber in lrp. Much more smoother gameplay i think. Tire feeling on steering wheel seems better. (not much better because before was already good, but almost for sure feels better)
fresh install. installed/deleted all previous installs and data except for packages and player directory which I copied elsewhere and renamed. first thing i notice is that i am getting reflections and special effects even though both are off. anyone else getting this? I am going to exit and restart and check build versions, etc. but wanted to get this out there in case others are seeing. edit - install failed verification. stand by.... edit - Support\342.uninstall failed integrity check. One or more critical simulation files failed verification. thoughts? in the meantime i will re-install edit - wait i might know what it is. stand by... edit - re-installed and performed verification before doing anything else and several files failed verification. re-downloading.
No need to re-install. Reflections are like this now. I think I read they are only every 10 secs or so updated if set to of. Smoke and rain spray are not tied to special effects anymore. The verify thingy is a sort of help for Jeremy only AFAIK. (he knows what it does)
For the reflection settings, turning it to off now means the environment map is basically static, only updating every 10 to 20 seconds.
