At the moment it's just a static texture (rescaled bumpmap, on the windshield too) but it's no problem to replace the texture with a set of animated textures. Wiper animation is a different story and way above my head.

I assume he wasn't talking about the wipers itself but about the interaction with water on the windshield.

    Nice. i see some potential.

The rain drops on the hood look like their floating in the air about an inch or two higher than the surface though. i'm sure you've already spotted this but just thought I'd let you know just in case it may have slipped by your eye.

No, you are seeing the reflection of the grass in the background, in the hood.. Therefor, the hood is very dark on the upper edge, whereas the waterdrops are reflecting the sky... It may look like that because your monitor doesn't show the difference between the green/grey hood and the grey tarmac...

    Edit:

What I dó wonder, is what the hell that sphere above the car is ;)

Here are some pictures with a different scale for the normal map (6 times larger now). You can see how the normal map distorts the cube map (reflection) and every drop creates a reflection sphere. With a smaller scale it looks a bit wild in the distance. Maybe it's possible to fix this with modified mip maps in a way that the effects fades out in the distance.

The sphere on top is just an experimental thing for glass material.
