its not dynamic, but weather can be altered. iracing somehow uses very realistic looking textures that leave a small footprint & dont take many resources...idk, ive always maintained their tracks are just the best out there. the graphics engine clearly isnt elite but the look is incredibly natural and realistic.

as for rf2...didn't feels3 use textures not much inferior to those gt6 ones for his tracks? say this based on a screenshot someone posted on this forum; i havent driven any of them in awhile & don't recall noticing the grass, just that overall they were the best looking tracks in rf2 (mid ohio also comes to mind).

Yes, feels3's textures are of a similar quality. His tracks are still the standout pieces of work for rF2 in my opinion.

ISI seem to focus their attention at variety and uniqueness of track object textures. I don't really like that approach since it consumes additional resources and development time, while not offering much of a difference while driving.

This is why you see these kind of details in ISI tracks:

You will not notice them while driving, you will not notice them while taking a screenshot from a location just 50 meters away, you will not notice these details while comparing ISI's Silverstone to the same track in other games.

Most game studios give more attention to road, grass, curbs and barriers. It's what developers call the 10/90 rule - the 10% of things that are responsible for 90% of the effect :)

While I do appreciate all the work done by ISI, I'd rather have them focus more on that 10% :)

And I agree with Tosch. I don't believe we need super high res grass textures :)
What matters for me, apart from what Tosh said, is variety and patterns. If grass of entire circuit looks like one texture stretched over a few square kilometers and edges between grass and road or curbs betray polygonal structure of computer graphics, then no amount of fine details in track objects can make up for the bad impression.

do you mean the marks from lawnmover like on real grass?

The goal is to offer ultimate track atmosphere, AC tracks are, as you say mainly about the road, but 1 m behind it fence is missing compeltelly or the space is filled with a horrible looking tree. I prefer ISI way. It shows that they love to model those track as alive as possible. in AC on Imola you have this weird wtf wall to block your view from pitlane to the car park. It reminded me the NFS Most Wanted barriers to make you to take turn they want you to

Thanks dude! rF2 really can look beautiful!

    Also two questions for all.

    1) The helmet seemed to be massively shiny/reflective. Any way to get rig of this?
    2) On the third picture you can see the shadows on the sidewall of the tyres where there should be none..... I couldn't get rid of it..... is it a bug?

1: Is a HDR bug afaik, it does with this with some helmets, the Honda being one. Some helmets are fine, some are affected. If you turn HDR off as an experiment you`ll see the helmets are all ok...

2: Is also something I`ve seen from time to time on certain cars... it`s not something the user can fix. I think it`s something that has to be fixed on the cars...

Good shots, have Fanatec sent you a steering wheel to replace the G27 you're showcasing in your great league racing videos? :D That can't please Thomas (from Fanatec) to see :D

Also...... AP racing caliper is mirrored but that is ISI's problem :)
And maybe the roughest carbon fiber weave I've seen :)

I wish they would, Bjorn. My website, Pitlanes.com has an affiliation deal with Fanatec. They are very clear that affiliates don't use language such as "sponsored by" etc so I display the logo and if someone asks I direct them to the link under my stream.

Yeah I went with a finer texture but it just looked black, so reverted.
