Just saw this track on youtube from the Share internet thread in here. It deserves a own thread for discussing it! Tim, can you check if it's possible to get an license from them? http://www.bilster-berg.de/ People that been there call it for mini nordschleife!
Looks interesting. Found a video of a driver I know driving it, and asked him for advice. Usually better than charging into a contact page.
Yeah, as soon as I was done watching the video of it in the other Internet thread I got goose bumps and immediately went for researching it more and watching more videos of it. I really love tracks with great diversity in elevation changes. I'm actually quite surprised that there aint more of these kind of tracks in fantasy editions, it's a bummer really!
I have to say, going by the videos it does look to be one of his better creations... and I`m not what you`d call a "fan" of Mr. Tilke`s really at all. This looks interesting though.
I'd rather have the Nordschleife.... Having been there nothing will come close, I think. What a thrill!
I think some modder could produce a very good version of this track with the data i've got. The company that layed the asphalt had to build the surface very close to these plans, as they were only allowed a variance of 4mm over 5m. So if the license would be expensive, modding would be the better way. Also what you guys have to think about: The track is not made for races. They aren't even allowed on it. It is only for testing and trackdays. Because of that, the pit areas are not really up to what we would need for races with more than 10 cars.
Interesting, this track is about 50km from my home town There was a lot of discussion in the local press when the plan surfaced, as usual. Driving it in a virtual environment I won't be stepping on anybody's toes, though I guess they'd be very open about a license as currently they need all the good publicity they can get... Uwe
Why don't they build more tracks like this for Grand Prix purpose? A 'mini nordschleife' for the F1 calendar would be awesome...
Grab your camera, lots of memorycards and go to the track (before Autumn and wet weather...). We need some reference material! Cheers!
Too late, the wet weather just moved into Germany full-force yesterday. We enjoyed +30C temps a week ago, now it's back to 15C and lots of rain... Cheers, Uwe
If some serious interest should arise in licensing this: I know a couple of the guys who are actually owning that track personally and can try to make the proper contacts... I am actually living just 25 km away from the track... So if there is interest, just send me a pm.
