    ...and then...

Wait....what?!! You don't get to say that it would be a good thing, and then make a completely ridiculously all-encompassing definitive statement that DX9 is everything we could ever need in a sim...that's just ridiculous. :)

It's kind of amazing how people will defend ISI's decisions tooth and nail...even if it means contradicting themselves.

I respect ISI's decision, and it is what it is, just have to get on with the program; but I'm pretty sure there's some things in DX10+ that would help me write some shaders I'm working on. However, I'm not an engineer, so I'm not 100% certain about that. Also, from what I understand, it is quite a sizeable undertaking to make the switch.

Most of the hardware is old before it was maxed out. We throw a lot of money out of the door, over and over again with every generation of hardware.

You don't need a link to know that they're still using DX9.

We've not said we won't update, correct.

But we also haven't said not to DX11. Although I think I have pointed out a few times that DX11 is old now as well. :)

DX12+ APIs, when available, will likely not be back-ported to Win7. Skipping DX11 would exclude large numbers in the sim community.

Not 100% that dx12 wont' be win7 compatible.

Nvidia will support DX12 on Fermi, Kepler, and Maxwell-class GPUs (GTX 400+). Not sure about AMD and Mantle.

Yeah ... Microsoft is being kind of dodgy in regards to Win7 and DX12.

There is difference between admiting that some stuff could be usefull, and some stuff neccessary. You do not realize what a massive change it is for a graphic engine to swap between APIs, it is most likely to make all its content totally useless, looking horrible, stuff like reflections stopping to work completelly and so on. You are only exaggerating my comment. If it wasnt obvious for you in my comment, what i said is that the benefits do not overweight the efford. If you have the right content, rf2 looks better than AC or iRacing, atleast in my eyes.

Yes, I think it's mainly some daydreaming from graphics-obsessed racers. I don't see it happening either, simply because rF2 has now reached quite a mature phase as software (2.5+ years), and it's finally getting stable. Rewriting such a complex software while keeping compatibility with existing mods, old tracks, etc, is almost an impossible task, especially considering ISI has exactly one dev working on graphics engine.
