LOL. Most gamers or even casual gamers have minimum 8GB of RAM.

Edit: You don't buy a 64bit OS only to install 4GB of RAM. :p

From experience I have with games that have updated from 32> 64bit there has been huge lag problems and this scares me.
I like to remind you all that last time when we had online problem ISI used 6 weeks to new build.
Be prepared for no online racing

when certain other titles have introduced it, they've put in the option to boot to a 32bit or a 64bit

yet 32bit & 64bit users could be online together & it worked seamlessly

not sure if ISI are going to offer the same option

8gb is fine you don`t need more to gaming.

Here is how much you can use to Windows 8

    For 32 bit: 4 GB

    For 64 bit:
    Windows 8: 128 GB
    Windows 8 Professional: 512 GB
    Windows 8 Enterprise: 512 GB

    :)

According to Steam statistics, 47% of users have 4 GB or less and 75% users 8 GB or less. Even with 8 GB you could in practice only allocate something a little over 6 GB to rF2, more than that and you would start experiencing swapping of RAM and general slowness.

I wouldn't go spending at this point. Wait until the 64-bit rF2 is released and people start posting memory usage data. You could possibly only be looking at 500 MB - 1 GB needed (and that's for big tracks and big fields) over the ~3.5 that 32-bit applications can access. That means your 8 GB is lots.

By all means though, if you're building a new system and can get more RAM for a good price then do so. When I built my current system 16 GB was on sale for not much more than 8 GB so it was a no-brainer for me.

This 64-bit doesn't have to be released the end of the other week. It can take longer time for testing and only be out in July, for example. It's a necessary step forward and there's no need to worry so much with a rush job, I don't understand the concerns of moving from 32-bit.

Sorry but that hurriness cannot be compared to the risk of releasing a faulty insufficiently tested and validated build.

what? and where did I say I wanted it NOW and READY exactly? where have I wanted the 64bit "hurried"? I'm fully aware this may take a long time to get right and I'm ok with that, suggest you read posts properly instead of interpreting your own thoughts

We will have an unstable build Jeremy said for testing purpose before the stable one. It's up to people to install it or not, and if people install it to use as multiplayer important event they prepared for weeks, then, I hope they also have the bdsm leather suit and the gag mouth ball which come with such decision ;)
