There have been a LOT of RC versions on the MP servers lately, up to 470 now. Hopefully we actually get one soon.

The build will have to pass (or be close to passing) the internal testing, then unstable, then it will be released. Short answer: no idea.

I hope that the upcoming build bring some big improvement or some new features, because it has been 2 months since the last update, so they had a plenty of time to work in it!

The amount of time since a release really bears no indication of anything. Short turnarounds can yield large things, longer ones less things, from a user perspective, at least.

Additionally, I know it may not be the case everywhere, and it wasn't with me, but some people haven't been at work every day the last two months. https://twitter.com/jeremymmiller/status/414170445428977664

Silly question: Jeremy said 468 was a release candidate, why would there be an unstable build if RC is being tested?

Depends what you think a release candidate means. Considering the majority of their testing is done internally, I would take an RC to mean something they're considering giving to us; probably first as an unstable, then if all goes well as a stable.

Some might think RC means stable, or even a 'final' or '1.0' release (which isn't happening, though I'm sure some people haven't got that yet), in which case the RC might not seem to make sense.

Does that mean we are closing finalized version of rF2?

It was said a while back by ISI that in reference to RF2, unstable builds would be odd numbers, stable even numbers. So, we have 468, and now 470 being tested. So I would have assumed an unstable would have been 469 and then released at 470. All the build numbers ive seen on the MP servers are even numbers, aka release candidates.

Can we stop looking at definitions of terms that are used and trying to make that relevant? There will be no 'final' version of rF2. That has been made clear many times.

But definitions should not be given officially if they do not mean anything. rF2 is final when they do not work on it anymore, but it not might be finished.

They haven't given a definition... they said 'release candidate'. Going and quoting Wikipedia's definition of release candidate is completely irrelevant.

They do internal testing on a number of builds. The current build might be released (as an unstable -> stable) so it's a release candidate.

Why does a release candidate have to be for final version again?

Can't it just be a RC for next release.........?

    Lol

'm not sure about the correctness of the definition but is here perhaps any release candidate in sight ? I just mean it's friday and the next weekend is around the corner and I've only 2 weeks before going for several weeks out of the house. No stress, it just would be a pity when no longer be able to test for weeks.

Yes speed, i think there is a good chance we see a "unstable" build early next week, while a RC version is under testing over the weekend by internal testers (i suppose).
