You simracers are a 'nutty' bunch. This was good for a laugh Ronnie. Funny people here.
Seriously though...Why should ISI 'cut' out a whole segment of their purchasing base for a tiny visual gain from DX11?
That wouldn't make much sense on their part and would not be a great business decision. Lots of people are still using WinXP.

I don't know, I am of the opinion of dropping XP, from this game and from this Earth myself. MS is dropping support for it soon. I understand things like "people are actually buying and installing the software" But, for releases of builds to be delayed because of XP, well that just sucks for people that abandoned that OS a long time ago. I give you guys credit, I would not support XP anymore if I were making a game these days, like many aren't either, ah well. Please, though, at some point, also, drop support for XP please ,lol...

Ask on twitter. You will have bigger chances of getting an answer from him there than here. :)

I'm on Win7. The point is lots of people still aren't and have no real reason to change, and if they're not going to change why should ISI not make it compatible with XP for them?

Anyway, what sort of minor incompatibility are we even talking about here? It's not like ISI have to do double the work to keep it running on XP, just that for whatever reason something 'broke' it in this update. It's no big issue.

Must be great to have the entire universe revolving around you, by the way.

    * oh, and 'lol' at 'double the OS'. XP was always rock solid, as is Win7 (as was Vista, eventually), so apart from some nifty features (most of which I gather can be put into XP anyway) and things like DX11 which not everyone needs, there isn't a huge difference. If we were talking about XP vs Win9x I might agree.

    i have win 95,and i want supports

Please go ahead with your time

it is currently at version 8 and 9 at this rate the release before rfactor2 is stable then yes I think spending time on the support of xp is a waste of time

and if people are traveling on wheels evolve xp to 7 for reasons of machine capacity so I think in this case rfactor2 will not work correctly on their machines

sorry for my english I use google translation

The reason I have XP is pretty simple actually... It's because I had an XP license lying around and installed it on the side on one of my Linux boxes for the sole purpose of playing RF2. Why would I spend the money to get Windows 7 when the ONLY thing I use Windows (at home) is for RF2?

You forget to mention that those stats are gathered by the Unity web plugin. Sure, you can simple casual games. Games like rFactor 2 are an entirely different story however. Also this:

In fact, Unity's numbers show that the use of its web player software by Windows XP owners actually increased during much of 2012. On June 30th, 2013, Windows XP was down to 37.4 percent but rebounded up to 46.9 percent on December 31st, 2012 before going slightly down in March. Part of the reason might be that Windows XP is being used more in Asian countries. Indeed, the percentage of Unity Web Player users is number one in China with a whopping 24.6 percent, with the US in second with 11.7 percent.

Also, these are the absolute min. requirements for rF2:
MINIMUM (will not run or look as best):
PU: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 or 2.4 GHz AMD Athlon x2
    Memory: 2 GB
Video Card: nVidia 8600 GT or ATI/AMD 3850
    Video Memory: 256MB
Operating System: PC Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
    DirectX: 9.0c
    Storage: 4 GB
    Internet connection required.

You can easily run Windows 7 with a setup like this. It will run even smoother than XP (games as well). I can honestly think of no reason to use XP with a setup like that

I understand that rF2 will support XP from their perspective, but I can't understand people who run XP on a pc that is capable of running Windows 7 as well. Also, I am absolutely positive that less than 5% of people who play rF2 run XP. I think it is a bit selfish to demand support for an outdated OS as well. Especially if you can run perfectly run Windows 7 as well.
One way or the other, part of the budget and time for development go to supporting and testing an outdated system that barely anyone uses.
Disclaimer: This is just my opinion ;)
