    I found video of iracing

and there are some visual effect that I like (motion blur, color grading...) I think it would be good to implement them for better realism.

Looks pretty cool, though I have to admit I don't like the visor in that one so much... Looks a little strange to me. It definitely is cool how it moves around though. I would definitely like to see motion blur, and color grading would definitely be awesome. But, first I'd need a better graphics card. :D

    +1!

I think there's head tracking device in use. Would love to have one.

iRacing is nothing like in that video. The visual effects are all added with video software and the sound has also been edited too.

This is iracing but it has been put through a movie processing software to add lots of effects afterwards

    Iracing dosnt look like this

I imagine the graphical processing to do this in realtime ( as well as running te physics of a simulator ) wouldn't really be possible on today's hardware

Now I have and unfortunately it's not for me. Got motion sick very quickly because of the huge lag between head movement and actual movement in game. Tried various settings but just couldn't stand the lag. Great idea though and very well implemented.

You can get rid of most of the lag by disabling the faceAPI internal filtering, but then it becomes jittery

Also, if I'm remember well (I tried FaceTrackNoIR a long time ago) if your software allow it you can set you webcam for the lower resolution possible by default, to get the fastest framerate. On my laptop I was using an high resolution for the webcam as default, and I had lot of lag. Lowering default settings of the webcam improved the speed, and didn't lower the precision of my head movement. I guess also you need to have a powerful enough machine. The original TrackIR handle a lot of thing inside the device itself so lower the CPU usage...

That's true, though I haven't used FaceTrackNoIR, I had the same sorts of problems when building robots that use cameras for vision. The lower the resolution, the better off you are in terms of speed because there are less calculations that need to be completed. The nature of vision algorithms tend to be fairly resource intensive. I suspect KeiKei would have a much better experience with a lower resolution.

Thanks for advices, I'll try it again with lower resolution (even though just thinking about it makes me wanna puke! :)). I'm using PS3 Eye Cam which should be very good for the purpose. Also i2550K shouldn't be too bad either.

Well couldn't lower the resolution for PS3 Eye Cam. I think there's some limitations with free version of some software which is used by FaceTrackNoIR. However I was able to improve the smoothness and get rid of motion sickness. It provided nice movements towards apexes but had little impact on framerate so personally prefer not using it. I'll definately get some low-lag head tracking system in the future though.
