What you're seeing there is the specular reflection of the groove. That was implemented a build or two ago by ISI. I think I could lessen the perception of the lightness by using a darker groove texture but as far as I remember, there seldomly is a proper "dark" racing groove on ovals so I rather went for a less pronounced groove. There is nothing I can directly do about the reflectivity of it. If you have any photos that show ovals with a dark groove let me know, I'm prepared to change my mind.

Seems a bit fast. 17.71 so far in Formula ISI with room for improvement. Champ Car Lap Record was 18.4 , ai lap about the same. Another thing I was wondering why the garages and pits are slanted ie: if you sit in neutral you roll backwards.
Formula ISI is based on an modern F1 while the Champcar lap record was both in older machinery (1998) and in a car that more than likely was slower than modern machinery. F1 and Champcar each ran at Montreal from 2002 to 2006. In 2002 the difference in pole time was slightly above 6 seconds. In 2006 the difference between pole times was slightly above 5 seconds. Now this comparison isn't fully water-tight either as it ignores conditions, approaches to qualifying and differences in driver quality. The point here is - I would expect a modern F1 car to be faster on the track than the old champcar lap record. That's all just guesswork though. I'd love to have a car that is more or less in a configuration that ran the track, although that by now means an "older" Champcar or IndyCar from 2004 or earlier. Which still wouldn't give us an exact comparison as a number of factors, but hey. I'd actually like to have a more realistic car at the track for another reason: To check the bumps in the track. Without a car that actually ran there and a setup that's similar to a real life one it's impossible to judge whether the bumps are strong enough, just right or too weak. The FR3.5s struggle a bit over the bumps and due to the limited suspension setup options there is not too much you can do about it. With the F2s it's fairly easy to just drive over them even without adapting the suspension too much. So, are they too strong or too weak? We can't tell until we can simulate a more realistic scenario. Long story short - we need some proper open wheel oval cars! The pits and garages aren't perfectly level because they aren't in real life. Turns 4/5 are about 10m lower than Turns 2/3. It's one of the rare ovals where you actually have elevation changes.
