To update the Dedicated Server on our rootserver i always have to download and install a full build for now. Is this the correct way to update the DS or does an easier solution exist?

Auto-update or manual update doesn't work with a non-active rF2-account (which i thought is enough for hosting a rF2 DS).

If you have no license you cannot run Launcher (as you have already figured out), so the only way to update the Dedicated Server is to install full build.
The easiest solution would be to activate rF2 on the server so you can use the Launcher to update.
I guess you could also use some kind of sync program to see what files are different between server and your local installation (after you have updated) and then transfer only those files to the server.

I only have 1 (activated) account for my own PC. Is it possible to activate this account on the root server too? Or do i need a second account?

And we're OK with that being done, for easy updating.

    Sorry for this silly question,

How do I start a dedicated server in a local network?
How can I start a LAN session f.e. with my own private tracks to test them in multiplayer mode?

    thanks for reply

There is no LAN server (you can join over LAN but you still need to contact matchmaker first).

    Thanks for reply :)

But how do i start a internet Session f.e. with password.
I only found a "join" button and no create Button.
Is it possible to start a race with Friends and with private tracks?
I thought it was possible few versions earlier.

    Tranks for reply.

The in game server is not available in rF2, but you can open the dedicated and join your server with the same machine.

To the OP.. It's probably best you do a full install for each build / version that comes out.. For proper Beta testing I'd prefer to test the current version, not carry over any problems (if any) from a previous build / version.

    Hi,

    thanks for reply

    I found a "rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" in .:\rFactor2\Core path.
I started this file i get a "Mod Error" message

No mod files or mods found.
Unable to continue. Please download and install at least one mod.

What should this mean? I installed many mods (see attachment)
What does the dedicated server look for, what is lost or missing?
I m not able to install all mods, even if all needed files are installed.
Think I have to do a full install.
Is a full install the only solution?

    thanks for any hint

Open the dedicated server using the launcher (Simulate tab, Host button in the low right side of the launcher).

When you try to launch the exes without the launcher the error you are reporting is normal behaviour, say the launcher is the "control room" of rF2. :)

    Thanks a lot,

i didnt notice the "HOST" Button. Sorry that was my fault.
The button is very small and out of sight and therefore hard to find, because of the big coloured Online Race Button.

Thanks a lot for your Support.
