    Hi There,

I have noticed since 125 was released my dedicated server is crashing occasionally. I didn't think much of it until I just saw it happen after a few folks on the server voted to go directly to race.

As soon as it switched to race the following happened:

I'm on a fresh install of 125 (did not update), running the Megane at Lime Rock.

    Evening hoser70:

What operating system are you running your server with?
We are using Server2003 SP2 X64 and haven't seen that issue yet.

We use a bat file to launch the dedicated with and force it to only use one core

I can post the bat file if you like and tell you how we do it if you like.

    Dave

Server 2008 x64 here. I'd be happy to run the dedi from the batch if you don't mind sharing. Thanks Dave.

    good point dave.
    we use
    XP Pro Version 2002 SP3
    E5649@2.53 and 1GB

but the rf2 dedi crashes. a second (priority) rf1 server is running 24/7 at the same time but i don´t think that is a problem.

    Ok, here it is;

create a new text document and copy the below line into it:
    start /min rFactor2Dedicated.exe +procmask=1

    Then save it as:
    RF2_Core_1.bat

Copy the new bat file into your core directory where the dedicated is.

    Now go to your:
    rFactor2 Dedicated.exe

and take the space out of it so it looks like the below.
    rFactor2Dedicated.exe

    (Bat files cant read spaces)

    start the RF2_Core_1.bat

It will now start on only 1 core.

We have never tried it on Server 2008

Let me know how your fair out

    Dave

We sell our VPS servers with 2gb of ram and 1 core.

Bryan gets his from us..As far as I know and we speak daily, he hasn't seen any issues.
I think the extra 1gb gives it the little extra it needs to load.

    Should be "Bryan..." :)

Only had one problem... well, one problem that reared it's ugly head four times before I realized that It was the vMOD I was running. Didn't mention it to Dave because, I figured it right out.

Get mod works and all mirrors on all cars work on my server.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

    Up-date;

My server croaked 3 times so far, today... I guess it wasn't the vMOD.

    Very true..

From looking at your attached pic, that would work great if you were wanting to load multiple processes.

What I posted was if you wanted to just run the rFactor2 dedicated on a dedicated server.

After creating the bat file, just create a shortcut and land it on the desktop, and change the icon to a rFactor icon so it looks nice and pretty sitting there...:)

    Thanks Dave.

I still believe this to be a bug in the recent build as it never happened before this build and nothing has been done to this server other than update rFactor.

    Morning hoser70:

By chance...have you tried disabling DEP

I get almost the same as you posted sometimes with new games (not that this is a new game 4 u)

    Just a thought

Yesterday it was when the server advanced to race. Today, I wasn't watching so don't know what happened.

My server seems to crashing quite frequently... especially today... 3 times, and the night is young.

This is the error that is reported to windows.

Faulting application rFactor2Dedicated.exe, version 1.1.2.5, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x6f6c6c61.

It's the same message every time.

Hope this helps... oh... I believe both times today, that I saw, It was during the race session... Lime Rock with F3s. SWEET!!!

    Bryan

Just had the same crash this time on my Vista machine with 8 Gigs of Ram as my OP above. This time after one person left the server in practice.
