Very nice, Mario! Unfortunately I do not have accurate enough Google Earth data from tracks, which I'm working on... Nevertheless, very nice scripts and modelling technique you have there! Cheers!
Nice stuff Mario!! Parabéns! One question, the main reason of building a path in GE and export it as KML is to get elevations with the 3D Route Builder later? I'm asking this 'cause I never felt the need of importing a path from GE, I always built it inside 3ds Max.
Nice stuff Mario...but that spline modeling, vertice by vertice, around the track is a really huge waste of time and a pretty inaccurate method. Could be nice for fantasy track where you can push more on the "artistic" side of the creation...but for accuracy it's not good to move all those points with hands.. Just my opinion. Btw...thanks for your work!
Looks great Stupid question if allowed, that track maker script which made road surface so nicely, what is it? I have tried searching of that and haven't found anything as of yet
TrackMaker script is just an initial idea. For now only generates the base of the track. today I will release a version.
At the moment it is the easiest and free access to everyone I know. For this reason I import background images in size 1024 with zoom 21 to have the best possible detail. In the video is just to show the flexibility of the method. I can put the correct width of the circuit. I just shared what I researched and created. I started at max started a little while ago. Probably there are other methods of doing the same things but if I know that the existing methods would not have tried to create something new. "If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for her." Albert Einstein again
Build Path in GE is important. it will give the correct position and orientation of the circuit. It can be a GPX file as well. After importing the data is centered on the MAX and is generated a point will either allow reimport other geographic information such as satellite images of other roads or points.
Thanks Errors are good, they offer chance to find out solutions I report what happens, information might be some use for you. I got runtime error, shape spline index out of range: 2 line 222 n_LeftKnots = numKnots sp_track Left_i This was with gpx data which I linked earlier, I did import it with reduction setting 5 so there was no silly vertices, but that seemed not to change things, gave same error.
Yes it is, I did do exactly as on video, step by step, but still same error. Single spline of track shape, 798 vertices, as there are only center object and track spline in whole scene, it does not allow to choose anything else than track spline.
ok is this file "1352885195-03392.gpx". the import is ok but trackmaker got the same error. "out of range: 2 i will try to see later.
Yes, that is correct file, no rush really, also good to have sometimes sleep as next day issue may become clear by itself, well that is what happens to me most of the time
