Is anyone running RF2 on Windows 8, if so are there any issues to speak of?

    Cheers

My advice for everyone for sims stick with W7 unless you interested in the phone/mobility/ tablet/ etc. aspects of it.

Alternatively if you not happy with W7 performance or hardware/driver compatibility of your sims as it is, well W8 is not going to make any difference.

    P.S.

As far as baseline performance I found it ran within a whisker of W7 either way across 7/8 sims.
Personally I can't see retail being any better/faster.

Don't be swayed by people say everything is better / smoother / faster ....in most cases it is just the fact they have done a fresh OS..........

Thanks for your opinion DD, but that's not what the OP asked.

Give the OP the credit to make up his own mind on the benefits of Win7 vs Win8 as there are plenty of articles and reviews and benchmarks written by people who know what they're talking about.

    Now to answer the question:

@Grubby, been running rF2 on Win8 for months. Not a single issue, ever.

I never realized that replies must be explicate to a question.

My advice stands there is no reason to upgrade to W8 for sims.

I did answer him, read the post again .........I tried W8 in 7 - 8 sims one of which was rF2 (......I thought that would be obvious) and they ran within a whisker "either way" of W7. I never mentioned any issues.

    So on to the answer
How much plainer could I have been ?

    Which wheel do you use?

For example the Logitech Profiler won't work in Win8.
The problem is known by Logitech.
Got an answer: "At the moment our devices are not supported on Windows 8. Please wait for a software update, after Windows 8 is officially launched."

So at the moment my Driving Force GT is not working well in Win8.
I can only turn it 100 degrees to the left and 100 degrees to the right...

Waiting for an update from Logitech.

I think win8 works good for sims. The only thing that bothers me is the metro GUI crap that is only annoying when using mouse and keyboard.
Win8 actually even cured my stuttering when using CrossfireX (in rF2)! I couldn't get rid of the CF stuttering in rF2 whatever i did in win7.
Otherwise in other sims/games like the DCS series, netkarPro, X-plane, ARMA2, Battlefield3 Platinum, Crysis2, Train Simulator 2013 and so on i must say its as good or little better then win7 so far. :-D

rFacotr 2 works perfectly with Windows 8 Pro
At the moment the problem is the driver of Logitech.
The G25 does not work with W8 Pro!

I am waiting for Logitech releases updated drivers.

I can see a heap of people stuffing their perfect sim OSes and having no backup image to fall back on.

For those people complaining of G25/27 FFB in Windows 8, did you try this:

Verify that you have the drivers in DXDiag's input tab.

As mentioned before, when it comes to gaming performance, Windows 8 is almost identical to Windows 7. There are other things that go on behind the scenes so to speak which might make Windows 8 an option for those that like to spend a large amount of time on social media or have a touch screen environment though.

As for the "Metro" interface, there are ways to disable that so it looks similar to Windows 7. The advantage of Metro is you don't have too many icons on your desktop at the same time, but it eliminates the ability to have our favorite images as desktop wallpaper. There is also the issue of closing apps not really closing them. Windows 8 does this so that the next time you want to start an app, it is already running in the background and takes less time to get going again. This is fine and dandy if you have tons of system ram and a beefy enough CPU to where the overhead doesn't kill you.

In years past shutting down programs like this was called "Terminate and stay resident" or TSR's for short. For every TSR that you have, you are using system memory to keep it alive. If your daily routine involves opening a number of apps, then you are chewing up your ram.

My problem is not the driver, but does not start the logitech profiler!

The G25 is stuck at 200 degrees and I can not adjust the FF.

I'm not sure what you mean. Did you install the Logitech Gaming Software? Is that not the profiler?

There are no current releases of the gaming software or the profiler specifically for Windows 8, however the Windows 7 versions do work in Windows 8.

Well Durge is right, jumping into new version of OS just because it is new with no backup is not exactly smart, some issues are almost bound to pop up.

Of course having both OS, why not.

The Win7 Version do work in Win8. But not perfekt. You can't adjust anything.
So yes, you can drive in rf2. But your steering wheel turns only 100 degrees to the left and 100 degrees to the right...

If that's true, that's equal to not working at all for me as I need at least 540 deg..
