The performance of build 118 is good not great but better for sure. My framerate hasn't improved but has dipped in certain areas on track however this hasn't affected the feel of the car infact its better. It looks good colour wise and graphically had better depth I had the sense that the road was more detailed and had a better sense of speed while accelarating and braking was a brilliant feeling with G25 feedback. This build is the smoothest so far and colours are better.
Now the bad points, the shadows cast feel triangulated, blockier and flickery and half the panels of the cars are missing wtf, This was a clean install old 107 deleted by software manager full installer download and all old content moved and installed to new rfactor2 dir and reinstalled throgh mod manager.
I havn't experience the zebra road effect yet but not messed with anthing other than playing standard new build with reinstalled mod manager content.

Well it's about time he spoke up then, this whole "silence is golden" rule from ISI is beyond boring now, if we don't get told what's happening then these questions will continue to appear...I feel a new thread coming on later to vent my disappointment!

Haven't seen many discussions about sun occlusion but to me this is the most fascinating feature in rf2 right now. After testing build118 yesterday with each n every car I found it to be very impressive while driving at Brianza in the Brabham on a cloudy day. Had all set to realtime so no time acceleration and it went from sunny bright to cloudy dark depending on the clouds and made the hole environment more natural.

    Great stuff there.

I also have found a great balance between gfx and performance and as already said vsync on "video" makes the game run very smooth.

The steeringwheel of the brabham is to reflective in darker areas (when driving through a treeshadow for instance)...

Oh and the hdr colors should still be tweaked. It works, but it never looks lifelike. Plus, there are still some problems with the reaview mirrors over exposing the effect.

The tracks have differences in technical aspects. At Monaco with shadows to medium, shadows pop up right in front of my view which is very distracting. Same settings at Brianza is a lot more fluent and the shadows build up in a bigger distance.

Love the F3.5 outside sounds. Never noticed that they got an overhaul..

Last thing, yesterday I did a quick online test and on the starting grid was no opponents car visible, only my car. The others confirmed in the chat that they only see there own car. Strange bug to me. As I was not the host, I can't say anything about the server settings off course...

That's it for no so, off to the races!

Maybe you should have had the beta test group divided into two parts then, with a section on the forum closed for public access and only made available to dedicated people who are here to help you track down bugs? I'm just feeling frustrated because I don't have a clue what's going on, and why some bugs reported a long time ago never get fixed. I hope you can understand that point of view.

Yes sometimes the game gets stuck on Syncronizing when you go to the grid, weird little bug =)

In this latest build I changed back to sync video. It's so beautifully smooth so just can't resist it. :) And by setting max pre-rendered frames to 1 and vsync to adaptive (from nVidia Control Panel) then input lag is pretty low.

Tried sync gpu and it was also very good but only when framerate was 120 or higher - so needs beefy hardware.

In the event it may help someone I'll post my upgrade issues and resolution

    downloaded the full installer
installed - did not uninstall previous version
ran game - not all options in the menus and had the zebra road issues
deleted the plr and this fixed the zebra road and put all the new options ion my menus but shadows were broken
set shadow blur to quality and loaded a track and these were ok
went back to optimal shadow blur and now these are ok - was broken before putting to quality and back to optimal

    Missing Wheels and Wings

View attachment 4376 View attachment 4377 View attachment 4378

FR 3.5 at Mid-Ohio are missing wheels and wings. The screens above show that several cars up are experiencing the bug. The missing parts aren't constant, they can flicker on and off. This is new this build.

Bug from previous bugs that still affects these cars is that the lower flap of the rear wing appears and disappears throughout a lap. Almost looks like DRS.

The game was working pretty good under 107 for me, with FPS above 100 in SLI configuration.
With build 118, the game has gone back to unplayable...FPS now sub 20 in many circumstances, stuttering all over the place. Seems every bug posted here I got. Tried a few suggested solutions, no big improvements.
Back to rfactor 1 until next update I guess...will try again in 3 or 4 months assuming a new update rolls out by then.
I'm disappointed for sure, but under 107 I saw how good and promising the game can be so I'm not giving up on it just yet.

Just wondering if any of you guys with a G25 or G27 have tried any settings with the new ffb smoothing option in b118?

Up till now I`ve been altering the Steering effects strength, Steering torque filter and Jolt magnitude to compensate for the rattling but have`nt got round to trying the new smoothing yet. I will, obviously, but anybody found a nice setting yet?

    :)

My system is down at the moment due to motion simulator being rebuilt

Again mixed reports on this build but dosnt seem to be any decent sized steps forward

Think rfactor 2 is going to be in beta for a very very long time at this rate )-:

I think the FFB smoothing option is the torque filter because it was set at 4 when I first started up the game after the update and that's what my filter was set to

I like mine on 8 with 107% strength in Logitech profiler. Then between .65(Clio) and .75(F2) per car in game. I find this is as strong as I can have it without getting any clipping. It feels very informative, best FFB I've ever experienced, but I still don't understand why F2 feels so much lighter than Formula ISI or Formula Renault. Haven't tried with this build though.

What is all this 107% in profiler all about? I know this is completly OT here but maybe someone can give me a quick hint. Running 100%, 1.0 in game with full filters (32) on my G25...

Ahh right, you could have a point there. Maybe this was just added to save us altering the controller file manually?
