While I'm not currently working in 3ds Max, I've certainly noticed you're active in producing helpful bits and pieces, and I thank you for that. I'll probably be using them sometime soon. So, thanks Mario :D

The scripts run in 32/64 bits, but ISI plugins only 32bits. The best choice is 3dsMAX 2010 32bits

I'm sorry but i have to disagree with you there. I've used Max 2010 for quite a while now and not had problems. sure it crashes every now and then but every version of max crashes. I've never lost more than 5 minutes work though.

Yes with last Service Pack is very stable of course for large projects we get memory problems.Maybe using containers can help for large projects.
The problems I had (Lienz conversion) was related to the DirectX driver but after install SP2 is better.

Because you don't use it for professional Track development or for very high quality product(hd texture ecc)
When you will do 1.500.000 poly tracks with 600 material multimaterial you will agree with me.
I talk not only from memory problem(32bit) but milion of crash (with all the service pack installed) and corrupted saves.
Crash for saving, crash with gmaterial gtexture and gconvert, crash with a massive use of various scripts.....The hell.
The only OS that i try and find a bit of stability with 3ds2010 is the old XP 64bit pro.
    Win7 + 3dmax9 are the better choice.

Nope i still disagree with you, Silverstone i made for rF1 was close to 2million, and god knows how many materials and it still ran fine. Maybe you've just had a bad experience with it.

Your silverstone is about 1.100.000 (Faces) triangles =550.000 polygons and 198 material , not 1.500.000 poly and 500 material for example. Anyway with a mas of texture of about 26Mb it isn't hd quality that i was talking about.

300-400 texture of very good quality are compressed in a over 120mb mas file.

P.S. probably if you build a cars 2010 still good.
P.P.S Probably my workflow are disagree with max 2010 ;)

That's just what I've exported for the final version, at one point i was just a hair under 2million polys with a mas file over over 150mb for textures but i massively optimized that, everything i made was in 4096 res. The walls and fences alone used to be over 1million polys (Yes i know the difference between tri's and poly).

But i defiantly get what you are saying. It does slow down and crash the higher the quality of the files you use. In the end i was using multiple max files. The highest i got up to was over 600mb shaved that down to 275 for the released version. Probably my own fault for keeping all the base shapes in the same so that i can edit them if need be, i'll gladly concede on the number of materials though.

I still prefer 2010 over 9 though but wouldn't touch 2012 with a barge pole, horrible peice of software, don't know what possessed them to release that in the state it was in still so many bugs with it even to this day. Everyone has a right to use whatever they wish though, that's the beauty of modding :D
