I had the same problem and my issues was port forwarding. I've got a post started somewhere here which should help.

Can't find it now as I'm on my phone :)

Nick -thanks for the reply, I took a look at the thread and I find it very confusing,

I'm on windows 7 so didn't think there would be a problem, I have no idea of where to find an IP address

Sorry if I sound thick lol

Is there a very simple guide ( if this is a problem that is ) ??

I am happy to help you tomorrow. In the meantime what make and model is your router?

Can you try to connect to your server when you've clicked the Local connection button?

If you make your own room on local PC you must click the LAN button yes.

Sadly not but as I said you'll need to forward your ports. I'll help, what's your router model and make?

    Ok, here goes - http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-615/rFactor.htm

Now I must be honest and admit that it doesn't look fun, or easy, but you need to do it lol.

Once you get your head around it it's pretty easy :) You will also need to forward 54297 and 54347.

If you need help then download a program called TeamViewer and I can remote control your desktop :)

    Let me know.

    Hiya nick

Cheers for all the help, 1st time ive ever had to fiddle with opening ports

I did it on another pc in my house hope that's ok, ( IP address is same? )

I'll do it on rf2 pc if need be,

I take it I still have to join my own server with the LAN button highlighted,

How will I know if it's working? Suppose I'll just have to leave it on see if anyone else joins?

Haha yeah I'd agree with MJP and Durge, we need the name of your server to try and connect. The other way to test it is if you can join with WITHOUT having to click on the Local Connection button :)

Ok I think my problem is I'm using dynamic ip address,

Virgin media dosnt give out static ones to use ( so I've read on their forum )

Is there a way of hosting whilst in dynamic ip mode ? ( or am I on the wrong track here ? )
