Your right. But im getting the same problem as Steffen with the Nissan GTR. @Steffen_M: That is sweet! I was thinking of doing it after my 'fantasy' livery. But the window problem made me put it on hold. I even tried the Megan, same problem but only with the front window.
I have tested alpha channel values and white or pure black just seem to change reflection specularity on cars. Completely white alpha channel : Completely Black Alpha Channel : The windscreens are fine regardless. White alpha channels to my eyes make the reflection of the course etc reflect off your car a bit more than a black alpha channel. that's the only difference i can see. If you are having a problem skinning your cars and you are having a problem with seeing the skin on your windshield then i think alpha channels are not the cause of your problems i'm afraid. Maybe someone who actually knows how to mod rfactor2 can give us all some help? lol
well hope in the future a template for windows can resolve the problem. because i already try diferents dds conversion, i try that trick with alpha layer. In the other cars like nissans i have the same problem.
@Hugo and Steffen_M Out of curiosity, i downloaded the nissan template, and again have no problem with the windows. Have you checked what layer you are actually painting on?
Thanks! That's why I still have Vista, I still haven't got it figured out yet. Then I can go to W7 and W8 and not know how to do anything all over again.
For example, a Nissan GTR skin would be: \My Documents\rFactor2\User Data\player\settings\NissanGTR\NGTR_00alt.dds The part I'm missing is "NGTR_00alt.dds"! Where do I find the naming protocol for the other vehicles? What directory are they in?
Nice to see some others with that issue. I have it too but there's never been enough reports for them to nail down a cause. It's NOT your skin, as send that same skin to someone else it might work fine. Very weird.
It also shows up on the windscreen inside. I've never reinstalled rF2 after updating, do you think that could be a cause. How many reinstalls are we allowed? Tony
Have the same problem with custom skins. Windscreen issue on Megane and Nissan. On the Open Wheeler's the car texture shows up on the driver gloves and helmet too. On the Formula ISI the whole helmet becomes nearly invisible and drivers mask has car texture on it. There are many guys out there with that problems.
@4L0M: Can you explain what you have done exactly, step by step? From editing the Template, saving method and get it ingame?
@Steffen_m. I will try to do it later, bear with me as i have a rather massive hangover this morning. I see some of you guys are installing textures to : \My Documents\rFactor2\User Data\player\settings\NissanGTR\ I am actually placing my textures in : x:\rFactor2\Installed\Vehicles\NissanGTR\1.1\ (x being whatever drive you installed the Rfactor2 packages to. ) Have you tried installing here and see if the windscreen bug persists? I will post up a skin later for you to download and see if it works in your games ok. Maybe one of you with the windscreen bug can post your skin and i will have a look what it looks like in my game?
BUG overspill from the last build I guess. I get it too. It has been reported, but not responded to or fixed... I thought that ISI would at least fix this (in Meganes) as I spent time to report it as did others.... oh well.. maybe next build.
Maybe because if you put in in to the ...Installed\Vehicles.. folders it works, but if put in to the ...\My Documents\rFactor2\User Data\player\settings\... folder it displays the whole skin over the windshield.... so the concensus is there is a workaround and therefore no need for a fix
Now it works! BUT: I have to copy the Files to: x:\rFactor2\Core\Installed\Vehicles Thank you very much guy! I hope in Future this will be fixed by ISI. Will it become possible to paint windscreen, rims, etc, too?
