well, technically it isn't anywhere near realistic:

Because of the round shape of the visor you need to make a panorama shot of the cockpit and horizon, stitch them together and make it extremely narrow. That way, the reflection is realistic for a round shape.

The way it looks now, it looks as if the visor is a flat mirror.

One thing I wish rf2 had on overcast days are defused shadows under the cars. I was going to paint it in but I spent too much time on it already.

Though I understand your point in this, looking at the fps at different parts of the track might be the reason for the different fps and not the mirrors. Perhaps show the fps at the same point on the track with and without to more accurately gauge the difference?

@Gearjammer, what he says is true, please try it out your self, and unless your computer is able to run max FPS all the time you will notice that turning on mirrors will take 10 FPS (Average) from you. Its a quite basic fact and really easy to test, those with less powerful hardware can notice this difference.

Which is why some of us spend more on hardware.

Mirrors in lower spec PCs has been topical since, well since ever, all sims have varying levels of hit with varying systems............it's a quite basic fact.

If you want higher fps every which but loose you make sacrifices..............like don't buy a console or go to McDonalds. lool
