Seen those shots a few times. When shaders like these get incorporated into rF2, I think the vast majority of complaints go away. Can't happen soon enough though!

    This is Navarra by biglebowski.
We were using this track in our league, so I applied shaders to it, just like to any other track in our calendar.

I've allready talked to biglebowski and pixsim - basically they agreed to release updated versions of Navarra and Nogaro, but I was a bit busy recently and haven't looked into these.
But I guess it would be nice to spend some time this weekend and give updated versions to biglebowski and pixsim for release. No promises though - my new job is a bit ambitious and I don't want other things to distract me during first few months.

I think Potrero De Los Funes would make a fine addition to these two - I need to contact the author, though.

    Here are some screens:

    Navarra:

Nogaro (two posts at simracing.pl) : post 1 post 2

3 screens from Road America (showing new terrain shader) : post 3

Here's previously mentioned Potrero De Los Funes: LINK

Back on the topic of rF2 screens - I have only one comment for that picture:

"I'm speeding. That's a good way to get yourself noticed." ;)

Two examples to show what I believe is wrong with the lightning in rF2.

First screen is unedited but has a high gamma value in hdr profile to desaturate the scene.

Same screen but desaturated and added some blue in photoshop.

The screen is unedited but desaturated by hdr profile.

    Added some blue.

All screens were made in dev mode with a low turbidity setting to give the sky more brightness.

There are two main things that can bring the lightning a good step forward.
First is the intensity of skylight (turbidity). You can tweak the overall lightning by hdr to some nice results but the sky becomes way to dark.
Second is colour of the scattered lightning. It should toned to a blue colour because it is the scattered light of a blue sky.

Maybe we could have that "blue filter" when watching the replays from TV-camera, but the world doesn't look that blue and washed out to me irl.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer warm colours. But maybe something between the two pictures?

A middle ground between the two would be just about perfect I think. The blue versions look like an instagram filter to me. :p

I totally agree, your "blue" versions are much more natural (to my eyes at least)... regardless the lack of reflections and other lightning issues, I'd be glad with this colour distribution and a more bright sky...

    People have different preferences.

What I prefer is graphics not based on any preferences at all, but on pure optical laws. This is the only one I'll consider realistic and therefore satisfying to me.
So when I look at pictures or screens I don't prefer blue, orange or any tone at all. What I want is that whenever there's blue tone, it's justified and whenever there's orange, it's justified as well.

I can only repost one of my favourite photos showing what I mean:

You can see that under the roof, uper part of wall is slightly orange, while bottom part of wall is slightly blue.
That's because upper part of that wall is exposed to sunlight reflected from sand and shielded from light reflected from atmosphere, while lower part of that wall is in the opposite situation.

So both, warm and cool lighting is justified on just one wall. How neat ;)

Does any sim actually manage to achieve that? I don't think I've never seen a lighting system that's that deep.

2 versions of Potrero exists for rF1 and both are nice. Each has slightly different layout and AI performs different on each too though but both look great already. http://rfactor.no-ip.info:100/?search=potrero
