Jeremy Miller @jeremymmiller 11 Jun I want a linux dedi server then I want a linux client. Have not wrote windows only code since 2011. I hear you. Its on my plate. No timeline Tero Turtiainen @TeroTurtiainen 11 Jun @jeremymmiller Wow, Linux client would definitely make my life easier. But is it even plausible? #notholdingmybreath #fingerscrossed Jeremy Miller @jeremymmiller 12 Jun @TeroTurtiainen its possible but I long ways away if we can get to it.
I bought the game a few weeks ago and saw that there a not many servers online. Now i know why, because there is no linux version of the server. Hosting a game for a few friends will work on your local machine but more than 10 people will be too much. I would love a server verson for linux.
It was mentioned at least a year ago also. And again when it moved to console UI Sent from a mobile device using Tapatalk
Why ? I have run my room for 18 months. My logic says as long as my box is fast enough and enough bandwidth I can host any number of drivers I want so don't spread mistruth please.
"Reply here if you want a Linux dedicated server for rf2" Yes I want one too .... BUT WHEN IT WILL BE READY I have time ... RFactor that is finished then yes dedicate linux
Linux tends to be more stable then Windows. I have dedicated linux server less then 5€ a month which is more then capable of running multiple rf2 servers. I'm still hesitating to buy rfactor 2 due the lack of support for linux servers.
Any further news on this? I'd prefer a linux box for a dedi as it's more stable and one can strip it back quite a bit to leave more resources for the actual server software.
I fiddled around with running the dedi using wine with decent results, but I think that was back in the double digit build days I know it's no replacement for a native Linux server, but it might help while ISI is working on other things. Cheers, Uwe
Is that a real linux dedicated server or just a linux server with windows files running on wine? I can't find the files for the linux dedicated server. Can anyone help me out please?
The "ISI Linux please test" server is currently hosted on a VMWare server I think, running wine 1.7.x compiled from source (usually the latest version) on CentOS 6. Let me know if you need any help setting up a similar environment. Uwe
