there is GPRIX Weather="0" // 0=sun, 1=clouds, 2=rain, 3=default, 4=random, 5=scripted MULTI Weather="0" in PLR file, try this. (Not tested this yet, as my activation didnt work and this "scripted" option looks good ;]
I believe Random weather had to be disabled temporarily as it was causing some problems. It will be there once we get it back up and running.
Any hints where these scripts are stored and how to use them for the dedicated server? //update: ok, i got it You start rfactor2 offline, set the weather for a specific track -> a file <trackname>.wet will be created in you userdata/<profilename>/settings/<trackname>-folder I will place this on the server and see what happens ...
Scripts are very poor implementation indeed. Why can't we specify rain per sectors and intensity per sector. In real races can be hard raining in s1 and sunny in s2. Can do this with these scripts? I only see how to specify rain chance, but not intensity and zone...
Gee, that's a bit harsh. What you describe can happen on large tracks, yes... but it can happen on large tracks in rF2 already.
Because current implementation of weather system is consistent for the whole track, there is no chance for having it for specific areas. In the future though, that should be possible.
Yes within the game use this tool to get a Random setting: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/11398-rFactor2-Weather-Tool
Where is the random setting? I can only see options to get realistic weather, not random or even better, random within a reasonable local context. I also don't see a provision to work with a random session start time (within rF2)--it forces you to choose a specific start time for all three types of sessions.
There's a Hide Data or similar check box at the top, use that and it Hides the data collected....therefore "Random" as you have no clue what the weather is going to be. all explained in the original thread.
So it's not random at all. It's hiding the real forecasted weather data that it pulls in. We'll all still wait out here for random weather (meaning the game randomizes the selection within some known or pre-set parameters...that are hopefully location-specific and relevant to the selected track). Although we have many seasons to take into account (some of which mean no racing at all), I'd be happy for random weather appropriate for the day that is set as the default day for the race in the track files. That way, the sun/light and weather would be co-ordinated. If you wanted to have an off-season race or many different races, someone could bother to change all the vegetation and so forth to do it properly. That's a long way off and way down my list of priorities compared to simple, basic, randomly-generated, but reasonably representative and realistic weather (e.g., chance of rain at Bahrain is less than 1%, but about 50% at Silverstone).
oh whatever Marc there really is no pleasing you is there!? it's essentially THE SAME THING as Random except you dont know what's coming...which IMO is better than Random Weather where you know exactly, dont like it dont use it
No, they have nothing to do with each other. One is random and the other is not. One is real weather downloaded from a service (hidden or not is irrelevant) and the other is computer generated randomized weather. You seem to the one who cannot be pleased. Just don't bother replying when there is nothing to be added to the conversation.
also not to mention that with Geralds (Brilliant) tool you can select any date in the past (to a degree) for the Weather so essentially it's still "Random" as you can chose to see it or Hide it.....again a perfectly viable solution to the lack of Official Random button in game, but you wanna ignore that then that's your loss.
