Hi, since few weeks the updating is blinking, telling something's wrong, but no idea what or which files are missing. Have installed the whole directory three times with same results. Any ideas or hints?
I have no loose File in that Folder. In ..\steamapps i have: appmanifest_365960.acf libraryfolders.vdf and in ..\steamapps\workshop: appworkshop_365960.acf Did you make a Steam File Integrity Check?
Could become a pain, but deleting workshop\365960 (I think this is rF2 Steam ID) may help before reinstalling; if you are using a real HDD (or SSD is possible, too) it can be because of bad sectors not identified by the HDD and used again by the OS (very unlikely; encountered this two times the last 25 years only).
Thanks for reply Readapg, StoneRacing, my workshop files are stored in "C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960\" (seems to be ok for many years) luckily no bad sectors found But today added some more Workshop contents, after that, rfactor2 again repeat complaining missing files. I noticed new folder with updates for Diriyah_ePrix_2021 Berlin-2020, borovaya_090, Neva_Ring_06_2.0, Kerpen_V0.55, URD_Glickenhaus. (some of them without purchased them) I deleted and canceled all new Workshop Items from today and started and closed rfactor2 without any problems, even update works again strange, it seems some workshop items are bad and prevents rfactor2 from updating ..
Glad to hear you sorted it out and it is working again; I encountered a pretty similar problem yesterday or on Sunday, where I needed to cancel update on startup - but I did not find out which item should be updated. Did not happen again. I just canceled and it was working again. I am not sure, but I remember workshop usage caused a lot of problems so I just subscribe to the content which is mandatory for my needs (community races and so on). E.g. I spent half an hour to find out, that a McLaren MP4 I subscribed to had a conflict with the s397 one. edit: from time to time I need to do a verification of rF2 files ... I do not know why, but last time rF2 did not start and after verification and some re-downloaded files everything was fine again
Hi Alex Sawczuk, very thanks, for your helpful support: I had a short look to "C:\steam\logs\" folder. There where quite many files with "changedate" yesterday. I looked for big files or conspicuity: i found (every second repeated) noticeable entries in "workshop_log.previous.txt" [2022-12-13 15:20:14] [AppID 365960] Update canceled: Failed updating depot 365960 while reading chunk "416c0d6652e3f9a5acee34fbddec9a531131fa9f" (File Not Found) (Missing game files) "C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960\2739111457\readme.txt" [2022-12-13 15:20:14] [AppID 365960] Starting Workshop download job (downloading ) [2022-12-13 15:20:14] [AppID 365960] Update canceled: Failed updating depot 365960 while reading chunk "416c0d6652e3f9a5acee34fbddec9a531131fa9f" (File Not Found) (Missing game files) "C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960\2739111457\readme.txt" [2022-12-13 15:20:14] [AppID 365960] Starting Workshop download job (downloading ) .. and so on (for ever ...) [2022-12-13 15:32:16] [AppID 365960] Starting Workshop download job (downloading ) [2022-12-13 15:32:16] [AppID 365960] Workshop update job started while app is running, commit : yes [2022-12-13 15:32:16] [AppID 365960] Update canceled: Failed updating depot 365960 while reading chunk "416c0d6652e3f9a5acee34fbddec9a531131fa9f" (File Not Found) (Missing game files) "C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960\2739111457\readme.txt" .. so i stopped it manually Not knowing what exactly is going wrong, it looks like that may be workshop item "2739111457" (LolaT280) is creating some problems ... im not shure, because i didn't delete this item and now rFactor 2 is runnung without problems
Similar thing (kind of) happened yesterday. My headset arrived and I got it set up. When I was doing that I noticed when I connected to Steam and ran RF2 that it said it was "disconnected." At one point, I got a message that said it wasn't able to connect to steam and that my files wouldn't be backed up and I opted to continue. Later that evening, when I ran RF2 to run races rather than set up the headset, RF2 notified me that there were more than 60 files to download. I went and got a cup of coffee and watched the news and came back later and found it finished. I suspect running it "offline" got things out of sync and it had to fix itself.
I noticed another Workshop item that leads to update fails: Audi_R15_TDI_Talent_v1.00.rfcmp (was the only one in C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960\ folder) after deleting this item from content\365960\ folder, update starts to work again, but .. after several minutes it happens again even with empty workshop folder. (hmm strange) then I installed rFactor2 all new
Hello, stop Steam, try to remove all : C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\downloading And don't touch : C:\steam\steamapps\workshop\content And then restart Steam. Steam adds in downloading folder some temporary files to restart download later without losing what was previously downloaded even partially. You probably broke this part. The datas in content should be always OK and fully dowwnloaded, don't touch this part.
Thanks for report, my fault . When updating the content with the new labels and the new program to upload content the update of the talent file was not well created. Now everything in a single V1.01 package available
Again missing files prevents updating ... I sadly realized that also the workshop "Porsche Cayman 718 Manthey MR GT4 CUP" caused this trap. Shortly after deactivating this workshop item rfactor2 workshop update runs again and finished perfectly. I like this GT4 Mod a lot, so i hope Bug gets a fix good step into new year
I had this issue today and tried unsubscribing the failing mods and still didn't work. Starting a file verification on Steam fixed it. In case someone else goes through the same.
