Hi, After running a complete fresh installation of my pc trying to fix FFB issues on rfactor 2. Unfortunately I now encounter something different. It crashes on start-up. Sometimes it crashes after the appearing of the rfactor 2 logo, but more often it will crash during the "workshop sync in progress" screen. I'm on windows 11 now and did the (at least i think i did) update on the Direct X. Nothing helped so far. Anyone familiar with this ? Cheers, Danny
Some extra information; Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2592 MHz, 6 core('s), 12 logische processor(s) (RAM) 64,0 GB Nvidia Quadro p3200 Since it's a clean install i even have tried it without anti virus (besides ms anti virus) Did an Update on al my drivers. I even downloaded ACC and try to run that (and it did without any problems, but i dont like that sim...)
You haven't mentioned runtimes, so: Reinstall all 4 files in the Support\Runtimes folder (Run each one, select repair or install). After that, do the same with the x64 and x86 from this page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist
Hi there Lazza, Just did repair the 4 files in the runtime folder and after that i downloaded and installed the files from the ms site. Unfortunately this did not work. I'm definately not an expert on this but if i'm not mistaking in the past when i started rfactor 2 it inmediately showed the rfactor 2 logo. Now it shows the command prompt, see attached printscreens. Maybe this has something to do with it ? Danny
Na, that's a windows 11 thing, you can switch that off somewhere in the settings. If I find the answer here I'll link it. It shouldn't be causing any actual issue. @Danny Lugt aha, here it is https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/command-window-popping-up.73020/#post-1113145 (thanks to @davehenrie for the memorable reaction ) *one more edit... @Danny Lugt is this a fresh rF2 install, on a clean windows? Check you have a Packages folder in your rF2 folder. Actually I don't know if that could cause your issue, but it sometimes doesn't appear... Can you create a trace file? It might get far enough to help.
Yes it's indeed a fresh install on both ms and rfactor 2, i'll check the folder when i'm home. If that's not the problem i try to figure out how i can make a tracefile, I found a topic about it. *edit: I have the folder but it is empty.
Thanks, Welp, definitely a crash, as the trace just cuts out in the middle of doing usual stuff. Check if you have a .dmp file as mentioned at the bottom of this guide, and if it's from one of your crashes (timestamp matches) attach it. That may help us, or a dev, narrow it down. https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/diagnosing-issues-using-logging
hope this helps to setup pc https://github.com/abbodi1406/vcredist/releases/download/v0.64.0/VisualCppRedist_AIO_x86_x64_64.zip .NET herunterladen (Linux, macOS und Windows) (microsoft.com) DirectX Runtime – Microsoft Store-Anwendungen
There is no rFmini.dmp in my userdata folder and im not sure on how to create one but i added the traceflush to the startup procedure. With a somehwat different result.
Ok, my rfactor 2 is running!! In steam I went to rfactor 2 settings/workshop and unclicked all items. Restarted the game and it ran! Tnx everyone for your effort it was much appreciated cheers, Danny
glad you stuck with it. Perhaps S397 could add some warning text to the workshop. Something like: Do Not venture here until you have run rF2 sucessfully. Then, add only one item at a time.
