    Hi there,

    I'm experiencing strange thing.
My computer reboots by itself when running rfactor2. I first experienced that problem like 2 or 3 months ago. At that point I suspected there was trouble with my PC, so I tried to test relevant matters:
    - tested my RAM with Win tool and with memtest86 - all OK
    - stress tested my graphics card and experienced no trouble doing that
    - tested my SSD an HDD - aparently no trouble there.
    - updated my graphics drivers to latest build
    - installed hw monitor to see if any of components would overheat - nothing special there, even during stress test of graphics card.

This is gaming machine, I run mostly rfactor2, beside that my son plays FIFA, Bombergrounds, I tried it with ACC and RaceRoom sims. In no other game does computer reboots.
Along with rfactor2 I usually run: Discord (with voice channel), Crewchief and Mozilla browser.

Reboot mostly happened when I press ESC key to escape from track into pits (it has happened during playback in the pits once and also during normal racing once or twice). So I race, press ESC and machine reboots.
Interesting thing is also, that that happened few months ago for the first time, now did not happen for like almost a month, and now again. I thougth there was some bug that got resolved and patched when it stoppedn happening, but aparently there is still something going on.

I checked windows logs. Only relevant entry I can find is after reboot somethning like: "Last restart was unexpected."

Will gladly provide more info, just tell me what you need.

    Best regards,
    Marko

    What are your computer specs?
Does it happen with the same content (cars, tracks)?
    Try disabling the plugins.

Have you checked the rF2 logs, too?

    I would, if I knew how :(
Under rfactor2\UserData\Log there are some .csv files wich are not what I'm looking for I guess...
Cbash folder has some binaries that I don't know how to read...
Can you provide some advice where to look for relevant logs?
    Thank you

If you use CrewChief, then you use plugins.
Edit: You should have installed Shared Memory Plugin

Ok, will try it without Crewchief.
What do you mean should have installed Shared Memory Plugin? For rf2 not to crash or to be able to debug?

Ok, unfortunately there is no log file from the time last crash appeared. Will wait for new one and look at it then.

Crew Chief will have installed the plugin for you, it needs it to work (to find out what the game is doing). It's very unlikely that this plugin is the cause of your crash but you can turn it and any others off from one of the "options" menus in rFactor.

I know CC is unlikely cause, I'm using it for 2 yrs or so now, have done fresh reinstall of rF2 in between and never had any trouble with it.

Anyway... trouble for me is, that it is impossible to intentionally reproduce my problem, it happens (seemingly) randomly. I thought problem was under controll by updating all the drivers and wins. Did not happen for a month or so, then I was in the middle of online race, after Q, in WU before the race i escaped to pits to get ready for R and booom, reboot, got me miss that race of course... :(

Oh, and another thing I remembered just now, it allways happens in online play, 2 diffeent servers. I'm not even doing single player mode...

Do you use DAMPlugin? There was an old version that caused this problem. If you use it, update to the last version.
I'd try disabling the replays too.
Plugins and replays launch extra work, in rF2, when we hit escape.

Not to get overly defensive (and testing without any third-party content is always a good idea, if terribly impractical with an intermittent issue), but I didn't think it ever caused a reboot? Extra work and runtime bugs would normally cause slowdowns, freezes, things just not working. A computer reboot is an entirely different level, because even a full process crash generally won't reboot.

    Yes, you are right.
When there was the problem with your plugin, the rF2 could close suddenly. Is very difficult that a plugin causes a Windows restart (sorry for my mistake)
And it's very difficult that rF2 crashes windows. It's more easy that it's related with a CPU, RAM or USBs problem

FWIW I have another game which crashes my whole PC (hard reset required) at the same point frequently (up to half the times I open up a campaign). I don’t have the problem with any other program. So it can happen. (I decided the game is not worth the trouble of trying to debug it and uninstalled it.)
