    Hey guys,

Completely new here... I've read some threads here looking for this answer, but I'm not sure I got it.
Is it possible to edit an existent layout to get a shorter version of a track?
Magny-Cours, for example, has the traditional layout available out there, and this track has already the road built (Adelaide -> Chateaux d'Eau) with some objects blocking the way and the game reading as "cut track" when u pass through there. So, Could I have this new layout by only copying and changing some files from the original track or is it more complex or even impossible to do it?

    Thanks![IMG]

    Yes, you can do that.
If the Road at the Connection has the correct Material already, you "just" have to create a new Layout, with a new AIW and adapted SCN, GDB,... Files.
So you need some Knowledge to do that.

And with the permission of the creator of the track, of course.

For private use it's not necessary in my Opinion.
    Agree? :)

3dsimed would perhaps allow you to move some barriers etc and check?assign if the road there has a drivable material assigned.

You would then have to run the AIW again.

3dsimed is very basic and limited but was what I started with then moved onto the bigger 3ds max learning curve.
Really helped in understanding track objects settings and material structures.

I have just got ridden of the blocks. I used the 3dsimed to identify the gmt file and then I just deleted from the gmt folder and the scn file, it worked. Tomorrow I'll start working on the AIW part, I have watched some youtube videos to have a glimpse...

I imagine (at least by now haha) that I have to record this new aiw thing, delete the other version (since I've copied the GP version), maybe work on cut track limits, not sure yet, rename files, pack and hope for the best hahaha

btw: what do u mean by "if the road there has a drivable material assigned"? I'm judging it has... by what I see..

In this case, what you see doesn't have to mean what you think.
One thing are the visuals and another the behaviour.
    Take a look here

Have you driven on it yet? if your car feels like its on ice then you know the TDF file has no reference to it.

I learned the first time I changed a layout I had to start by making a new main path first in the AIW. if not all kinds of challenges.

Oh.. yes I have. The portion of the track was already built on the original layout. It just had a block in the way.
