watched every tutorial. Just looking for some clarification on my workflow path since gjed seems dead. I want to play with joesville while learning 3ds max. Short term goal is to fix existing tracks for private use. Long term goal is building from scratch or from google. my current path: Proper file structure load a track into 3dsimed from scene export fxb import into 3dsmax 2021(plugins active) and configure all the settings from tutorial Plan to use max primarily and 3dsimed as a viewer only. Please let me know if i am missing a step or creating issues for myself with workflow before editing and testing?
That is correct. Just make sure the scaling you have in 3dsmax is correct as sometimes FBX will import wrong.
Yes, I think it says something like units scale, then you'll want it to be 1.0, so if it's 0.1, or something else, you'll need to change it.
Thanks Coutie, Can I ask, now that I have an existing track ready to edit. Do I have to assign every single material again or just road before exporting? Assigning the sub material is probably easy once you have done it. The tutorials are very limited in this area.
Thanks for the reply, So loading an existing track, making small edits, i have to assign every material for every object now before exporting it. Is this as long process as I think? I have the material library working just haven't figured out how to assign sub materials because i didn't know how many to assign.
