So I am very new to rFactor modding. I have been searching the forums to figure out what is going wrong but can't seem to find a solution. So here I am. So I did the usual...open the MAS2.exe, open vehicle mas file, then it hits the fan. When I open the mas file there are no INI files, HDV files, TBC files, and there is a couple VEH files that seem to not be what I'm looking for more like upgrades. Seems to be full of DDS files, JSON files, and not much else. Am I doing something wrong? Need to download something else? There is an encrypted MAS file in the folder that the normal MAS file is located. Is this where the physics are located? Thanks for any help, JS.
Also if there is a step by step walkthrough on some of the editing physics on vehicles it would be much appreciated. Seem to have to scour the web to piece it together.
I was looking through all the default vehicles...seems the default vehicles can't be unpacked I'm guessing?
So if you can't unpack the default vehicles...how did anyone figure out what physics are available and what to change when modding their own vehicles?
A lot carries over from original rFactor (which had a lot carry over from even older titles stretching back to 1999) and many people have experience with those titles. There are examples in Dev Mod. There's the Physics Blog https://www.studio-397.com/2016/05/hello-and-welcome-to-our-new-physics-development-blog/ Plus the Developers Guide https://docs.studio-397.com/developers-guide/ And you've already found this section for Modders. Also some video tutorials posted up on YouTube.
