This doesn't depend only on the quality of the content.
I began buying DLCs to support S397, but i'm not going to use any of the GTs LMPs.
I've been admin of a F1 league for ten years and i'm not interested in GTs.
I haven't bougth the Ferrari. I'm tired of GTs and i'm not going to buy more.
We'll see if we have a modern F1 or a hybrid car with oppened physics to take a look.
I'll buy a a new car if it's interesting to my like, or if is a hybrid car non encrypted.

You see quality, other people with minimal knowledge knows S397 could do way better thus no reason to buy everything. Could pretty much say only the Porsche Cup, LM, Sebring and Portland are worth buying, but then Portland is free.
Simply buy other stuff because you may want to race online and despite the flaws this still manages to be better than other sims. But worth buying? Maybe yes, maybe no, maybe maybe.

Methinks you will never see a DLC car be open for poking around. It would only take days for some of our users to duplicate and release an equivalent car that would end the sales of that DLC.

I guess @DrivingFast was referring more to users who want to own specific content but complain about the price?
If that is the case then I join the astonishment.

Can't say for others but I value my free time cca 5.99 EUR per hour.
Some of the users spent hours on forums complaining. Do the math.

If they weren't complaining in their free time but during works hours instead then it's all right, no astonishments from me

That's the idea, but not to duplicate the car.
They can have some parts encrypted and some not.
We have combustion and electric engines, but how to combine them together?
I'd pay to have hybrid physics that allow the modders to make a modern F1.
And for sure, some leagues would force their pilots to have the original content.
We did this year with Azure. Our pilots had to have the S397 track to install our update.

Back when disks or CDroms were the method of delivery, it was common to have a mod that required the CDrom to be put in the drive to verify the purchase of the sim.
    Good memories.

Unfortunately the battery is the fuel tank, so they can't co-exist. Any licensable hybrids out there to push this along?

I know, but you can charge it with the brakes, and the system seems to work.
They could implement 2 tanks (fuel and battery) with both systems working together.

I don't think we'll ever see a paid DLC car non encrypted. I think we'll soon see a Le Mans prototype (Toyota?) hybrid DLC.

It would be nice if they also updated the Formula ISI car with a hybrid system for F1 leagues to use or mod. But I noticed the current FISI car is encrypted while it's the basis of the physics spreadsheet. That makes no sense to me.

I'm in a couple of F1 series that race only mods and mod tracks. I'm pretty sure most of the others in the 2 series don't buy any of the DLC. It wouldn't surprise me if there are a lot of rF2 users out there like that. Oh and we raced at Monaco this year and it wasn't Circuit d'Azur.

Personally I've bought most of the DLC when it was on sale at 30 - 50% off. I paid full price for a couple of the tracks (Le Mans and Nurburgring) because I needed them for an online series. But I haven't driven most of the cars in an online race and I'm not that into offline racing. So I can understand the complaints about DLC prices and pack changes when you need all the cars to enter a race and your not even driving them.
