I view this as the first step in getting the rF2 enviroment ready for the new UI https://twitter.com/SimRacingWorld2/status/1207265813016842241
<Ahem> https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/incoming-all-cars-will-be-updated.64776/#post-1010653
The big question is what exact updates are being done to the S397 cars and whether all third party cars will require unspecified updates?
Unfortunately not. I'd imagine more boring Euro GT tracks. I think behind the scenes UI /Car code. Highly doubt they will look or drive different.
Think Mauro is probably right. Updating all content with actual physics/graphics updates would be a huge task and unlikely. Not sure if the 40+ people who liked the news post have considered that.
It's just copy and paste some text files. Kids stuff! Get ol' Seven "batch file " Smiles to knock up one of his magic spells, one click, done. Where's the serious face smilie when you want.
from RD..... Edit: Further clarification regarding exactly what this update will include has been given by Studio 397 head Marcel Offermans, which varies slightly from my initial and mistaken understanding. For full clarification, you can see the post from Marcel below: We are updating all our cars to ensure they look good in the new public beta UI. That does not mean this update (coming soon) will instantly update all of those cars to newer shaders, more detailed 3D models, state of the art sounds and whatever else you could read into this. I had a quick chat with @Paul Jeffrey already to explain. I just wanted to set the record straight. That said, we do have some (I think) really nice surprises coming up in what will no doubt be our biggest roadmap update ever. And we certainly will stay committed to keep improving everything we can over time! My apologies for any confusion caused!
My guess would be it's info on the cars, peak horsepower, disk brake size an all the other stuff you really want to know when choosing a car. Or how long a track is, or when it was first raced on, blah blah blah. SS
I just got this little spy shot sent to me. Looks like a nice outdoor showroom update. No, I haven't got anything better to do. Yes, that's real 3D rasterized grass straight from the turf pattern panel
GAME ON. 774MB workshop content just downloaded. GT3/E content Another 828 MB I haven't got all the DLC so mileage will vary.
Hmm. Not what I was expecting (hoping), as an example McLaren_650S_GT3_2017.mft still has the boilerplate Code: Name=McLaren_650S_GT3_2017 Version=2.45 Type=2 Author=Mod Team Origin=0 Category=0 ID=AAA9999 URL=www.YourModSite.com Desc=Your new mod.
