Back when I was modding GTR2, a wishlist topic would come up from time to time. And the series that were requested the most were F1 and Aussie V8s. Now keep in mind. WE HAD MORE F1 and AUSSIE V8 mods than all the other mods combined. AND... I never understood why guys would WANT to use GTR2 for F1 if for no other reason than the long Endurance pit-stops. So I always smile to myself when I see more content like this. But DANG! Good Looking cars!
Simple answer is when you have a wheel setup similar to this,, With GTR and rFactor you can assign all/most buttons to actually do something. Even today with Assetto Corsa has no use for even 1 third if that off these. That's why people choose GTR, GTR2, Rfactor and rFactor 2 over most other so called sims. You have far more control over the car as your racing. Not just in the tune up menus pages. It's not a "sim" if your relying on the game to drive you out off the pit, set the limiter for you. Be limited to just being able to change brake bias while your driving is not a sim! Setting up pit changes on the run is quick and easy. Change anti roll front and back on the fly. change field off view on the fly. Helpful when changing cars when your at a LAN. With rFactor and rFactor 2 you can setup a wheel config and save it for as many cars as you like to drive. At a LAN we go from V8 Supercars to GT3, to maybe NASCAR or even F3. Each car is very different and as such require a different driving style. One wheel setup "does not" suit all. Field off view changes from mod to mod and even car to car. Being able the change that on the fly is very handy. So that's why I/we choose GTR, rFactor over all others. Can't comment on iRacing. Never had it personally but I know a few guy's that have as good if not better setups who do race iRacing so I'd guess you can use a few buttons.
One of the mods, why I still have rf1 installed. The others are HistorX, and F1 2006. I would love to give this a go in rf2.
Yes though these are pictured from rF2. Some one converted it over to rF2 but it look horrible. Bad texture setting and so on. Rubbish liveries. I had the liveries that are on the cars now already so that wasn't a issue, I put it back through SimEd, spent hours on it, days bringing it up to speck but then DX11 came out and had to do it again. Unfortunately although I learnt a lot it's not possible to release it. Firstly and most importantly need permission from the authors. Then it need to be updated yet again to the current features in rF2. Tyres, Physics, shaders, updated interiors. Probably be easier to start from scratch.
check out FVR on steam they have a few v8s. also they have a website. http://www.fvrmodding.com/SMFrf2/index.php
This is what rF2 needs - GT3 & GTE versions the only marque to compete in most sportscar series..and in most other sims/not sims.. to a lesser extent these would be nice to have too.. .
Most definitely agree on this one but it must include it's play mates! One off cars are so passa.. Hope never to return to that rubbish again.
These two are already in rF2. Both are quite good models. All they need is a good physics guy to get them up to speed with the S397 GT3-GTE versions. The new shaders would be nice but physic would be priority. If you know anyone?
