I also got back because of new content, although I'm not a big Nords fan, but still, more than 20 km of technical driving. I bought almost all S397 content except Formula-E (no) and Sebring (will do). I really hope the new UI make the offline life easier at least allowing us to quickly create custom races and championships... What, by the way, all other sims allow except rF2. Currently you need to be a NASA engineer to organize a simple custom racing with the opponents and classes that you would like to race against. Edit -> Forgot about the crazy AI when it rains. Yesterday I was racing and after a light drizzle ended all mental AIs pitted (don't know if there's this English verb) under 100% dry track conditions. I stayed on track and win a race with no merits since 10 AIs stopped for a useless pit. Fix those points and I'll never need another race sim.
From what we have read, the new UI will almost completely be focused on improving online access and competition. At some point they will turn their attention to offlline issues, but the initial progress will be focused almost exclusively at online and competition.
That is a yes for road cars in AC. As it was mainstream and on consoles as well. Wasn't about it being easier to do a roadcar when you already have a racecar version. And with S397 their focus is obviously on endurance racing. So, wrong sim for someone who wants roadcars, I guess. One can only hope for some modders to step in. But they usually take the shortcut and rip stuff from other games, throw drivable physics at it and be done...
That's sad! I like race cars but they get a bit boring after a while. And just because I like street cars doesn't mean I don't want to see race cars. That's what keeps me away from iRacing. They basically only have about a dozen different cars, which get really old fast when you're paying monthly.
AC needs a few more tire mods to get to rF2 standards. Would you guys hack on me if I started a "no street cars??" thread?
Think it’s starting to become apparent that studio397 are capable of building the best laser scanned tracks in sim racing Adding to the f1 tracks would be great for me, wonder if anyone could get the ones no one else so far has like Singapore or Monaco
Oh yeah.... Studio-397 definitely know how to build the best quality sim tracks. I just drove some street cars in AC and finished with GT3 Porsche on the Nordschleife. Very nice driving experience. Then I came back to rF2's Nordschleife in the GT3 Porsche and there is just so much more detail in the road mesh and physics. And I think this is what helps with sense speed in rF2?
yes, lets laser scan perfectly smooth excruciatingly wide tracks that require wing deflections to complete a pass. (gimmie Knockhill, before any Eff One((except Spa of course)) )
Does rF2 have ultra-realistic S397 official "road cars/supercars" type ? Unfortunately for a sizable portion of rF2 users, no. Will rF2 have some very realistic and official S397 roadcars/supercars in the future ? S397 said it was not excluded, but it's a very low priority, so I think it's unlikely. So you're right, rF2 is not the right sim for that, but I regret it, because rF2 is the only sim that reaches my level of requirement in terms of realism. I have tried several times PC2 and AC1, and frankly at the realism level it does not suit me, unfortunately. I'm hoping for a little effort from S397 on the subject, just make a supercar reference (F40?), and very realistic would be perfect. Being an offline player, I am open to all types of car content, including for example racing trucks !!
@vegaguy5555 Maybe you are aware there are some nice road car mods. I like Lamborghini Murcielago the best. There is also some Porsche and Ferrari. They drive good enough. There is nice Bmw e39 m5. Ruf yellowbird. Some supercars made by Rasta. + official Honda NSX and Panoz Probably some more I forgot or I am not aware of. Driving these through city tracks like Milano or San Francisco is great in rf2 and quite different experience from usual race car/race track. I would like open world/city driving style game with road cars and rf2 physics/ffb. But I don't see it happening anytime soon.
an open world game ?, no, I do not think this happens in rfactor, soon or late, it just will not happen hahahaha
Of course it will not be in rf2, I never said that If someone ever makes it I don't care how that game is called and the studio behind it. I am buying it instantly.
