Hi, hoping someone can help me. I run a dedicated server on a PC in my house and then run the client on a different PC. Both have steam running with a different steam account on each. I just got a new modem (a D-Link DVA 2800) and enabled all the same ports I had running on my old modem. I can run the server and see the ports 54297 and 64297 are open, using port checker, but I can't see my server in the server list in rF2 on my client PC Is there something I've forgotten to do? Do I need NAT loopback running on any of my ports? (this wasn't a visible option on my old router) Thanks in advance.
Don't disappoint me. Tell me you have the latest drivers/firmware/bios or better yet the NBN certified tin cans and string upgrade and I feel I gave it my best.
Some newer modems don’t support Nat loopback, so you have a couple of choices....there is a workaround to get Nat loopback working => https://forum.sector3studios.com/in...if-you-cannot-join-your-own-dedi-server.4672/ or changing http port to 27013 in server’s multiplayer.json. You’d need to open/forward ports; TCP 27013 TCP/UDP 54297 UDP 27014 and 27015 Your server would then show in the LAN tab
Looks like all the Aussies stick together. You can feel a little disappointed I'm not sure I have the latest firmware. (or the NBN tin cans and string upgrade, although I have checked out the pricing for 3kms of string) Will update firmware if required and have another shot. TA Sorry Goanna, may not have made myself clear, the new modem has NAT Loopback available but the old one didn't have the option. I'm not sure if I need it if the server is on a separate machine (I tried with NAT Loopback on and with it off, still no show) I can see that the ports I've allocated in the multiplayer.json and forwarded in the modem/router (54297 and 64297) are open when I check with port checker. My Teamspeak 3 server is not accessible either so it must be the router/modem blocking something. Thanks for the hints, I will give it all a shot.
Firewall? Try deleting any rules you have for rF2 and TS and fire up the servers, it should then ask to allow internet access.
Thanks @Goanna tried that, no go. And @ADSTA have updated the firmware with no luck. Have disabled firewall on router with no luck either. Will send another message to D-Link with a hope to resolve the issue.
You have to delete the windows firewall rules and make new ones. Disabling doesn't turn it off completely
Yep, will have to have a go later got RL to attend to, will keep you informed of any progress. Thanks
This is a screenshot of my router settings for Port Forward. The entries all have to have different names so disregard server 1 and server 2 naming that's just so the router allows input. Please feel free to shed any light on errors you may see in the list. Thanks.
OK so I can see my server in the LAN window, now I just have to get a friend (oh wait that'll take a while) to see if they can see it in the lobby. Tentatively, thanks for all the help Will report back when I've tested thoroughly.
Thanks @GrimDad will give it a crack on Wednesday night if I get a chance. Might be able to rent a friend by then. Will keep the offer in mind though.
OK thanks everyone. Solved. Had a friend (that cost a bit in beer) check to see if the rF2 and TS3 servers were visible on the net, and they are. I can only see them on the LAN, so my router must assume that's the best path from inside the house. Thanks for all your input and patience.
